      Pros

      Vacation time because of the two company paid 1-week shutdowns.

      Cons

      Dead-end job for an "engineer" Very little actual engineering work, lots of time wasted doing trivial maintenance work Very Political Below industry average pay (for the type of candidates they want) It seems that the majority of engineers at CVI are either fresh out of school (don't know any better) or are 50+ and planning to retire there. I can see why someone would choose to retire there. It's pretty easy/mindless work with a strong benefits package for an older person. High stress for pretty much no reason. It all trickles down from the top. The managers have too much pressure on them which forces them to put too much pressure on their team.

      Pros

      Complete medical, 401k, 2 weeks of company shut down per year in addition to any accrued paid time off.

      Cons

      Personal Experience: Shifts change at a moment's notice (often for me I get maybe a weekend to prepare). Did not even consider my requests for shifts based on going back to school and my family. Department transfers are too common, once I get settled in, I get moved. Blatantly lied about my upcoming transfer and violated seniority, giving a brand new hire, with no experience, a job that is more prestigious and leads to more company growth while sticking me with a back shift, in a dead end department.

      Pros

      Great benefits and work life balance. Great quality for products. Good employee purchase program for Canon products. Good people. 2 shutdowns per year.

      Cons

      No structure for annual reviews, no training programs and each department in conflict with other departments. Top heavy for managment.
