Pros

Low/no travel - work where you live model Excellent college hires Very competitive Consultant level Compensation Reasonable benefits, PTO/401k/Insurance

Cons

Poor compensation past Senior Consultant which is not competitive with other consultancies, or clients by design. Company rewards tenure, not performance or competency. Misleading recruitment process - generic job descriptions which have nothing to do with the work 75% of the time. Very significant amount of Staff Augmentation type work. Mismanaged AM function without appropriate compensation or utilization expectations. Heavy reliance on happy hours to keep young people excited about being a "consultant" when they've spent the past 18 months taking meeting minutes as their job.

Thank you for your review and feedback. Many factors are considered when determining compensation, including performance against goals and our Core Competency Framework, based on your level. If you’d like to learn more about the Annual Review process (it’s right around the corner!), I encourage you to reach out to your Coach or anyone in HR. As we grow, our markets will continue to evolve as we recruit and hire more consultants and leaders in our newer markets. Again, we value your feedback and as a current employee, feel free to reach out to me directly if you’d like to further discuss any of your concerns. - Suzie Turner, Principal

A Startup That Doesn't Know Its a Startup

Pros

Work-life balance is good, depending on your project. It is truly a flat organization, so there' s a relatively good amount of autonomy. Pay is decent, benefits are pretty terrible IMO, but you wouldn't know unless you've had really good benefits in the past. There's lots of happy hours and they'll let you expense just about anything.

Cons

The higher-ups have a very naive perspective on what day to day life is like for consultants. They don't realize the company is still basically a startup (especially in smaller offices) and don't treat it that way. This leads to lots of poor decisions that tend to only impact the "boots on the ground" so to speak. Also, work-life balance goes completely out the window if there's a "sensitive" or "VIP" project/client. I've witnessed first-hand cases where people are explicitly told to work long hours and weekends to meet unreasonable deadlines just to make a client happy.

Thank you for your review and feedback. As CapTech has embraced a Coaching and Feedback culture, we value yours and encourage employees to give upward feedback, as mentioned in your review. We are proud of the culture we have built and it takes time to build that in other markets, as we expand nationally. I encourage you to reach out to your Coach, your Office Lead, HR or our Benefits Manager – we would love to hear ideas to improve our benefit options to employees! - Suzie Turner, Principal
