Pros

- Overall very nice people and some of the smartest I've worked with - Good opportunities to learn/grow should you seek them out - Coach structure feels nice as there is always someone to reach out to for mentorship or job related questions - Unbeatable work/life balance. I've heard stories about clients where coworkers worked <20 hours a week and still finished all of their work for the week. This is pretty client dependent but I'd say that working more than 40 hours a week is a pretty rare occurrence. I'd highly recommend working at CapTech for people who have families or other big life commitments they'd like to prioritize. - Remote friendly; you're never required to come into the office and many employees have taken advantage of this by moving to other states/cities - Pretty good PTO, people won't bother you much when you're away

Cons

- Not the most exciting work. A lot of projects feel like staff aug (which they will claim is not true) which means grunt work on older codebases/tech. The work doesn't feel that challenging which could be a pro depending on what you're looking for, but overall the growth opportunities are highly client dependent - Staffing is a black box. One of the problems with so much being client dependent is that it's not very apparent how staffing works to many, nor does it feel like you get much say once you are assigned to a project. I was once put on a project that I felt was not the right direction for my career and had a senior manager tell me that it was a "really bad look" for me if I tried to switch to a project that I felt better aligned with my career goals. - Internal opportunities no longer feel like they matter. CapTech changed their bonus structure last year to be completely utilization based, with no emphasis on merit from client engagements or internal contributions. There was a noticeable decrease in employees from senior consultant and up who were willing to organize happy hours, get togethers, or contribute internally, since it wasn't going to affect their bonus anymore. It also incentivized people to submit longer hours and take less PTO. All of this negatively impacted the company culture that was a big plus for many (myself included). - "higher base pay" myth. The pay at CapTech is average for the industry in this area. - Only 8 national holidays; expect to have a lot less 3 day weekends than your friends

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. We’re so glad you love working at CapTech, and we want all our people to feel great about not only the culture here but the work they’re doing every day. CapTech has always been a place that values our people first which is why we examined our compensation structure, our benefits, our staffing process, and our internal opportunities, and rolled out the new plan in 2022. Offering a better bonus structure, benefits like Carrot Fertility, Fringe, and Modern Health, and formalizing an Employer Value Proposition was all done with our people in mind. I encourage you to continue working with your Coach to align yourself with projects that serve our clients, the business, and your goals. I’m always here if you’d like to connect directly as well. -Katy Apostolides, Managing Director - HR

Pros

-Worked with some of the smartest and most helpful people I have ever met. -Most leaders are very down to earth and available -Work life balance is better than most other consulting firms. You can always say no to internal work and generally, if you are billing 40 hours a week for a client, that's enough -Get to work with a wide variety of teams, clients, and technologies -Flexible working locations and generally low travel requirements Easy to say no to travel. -Many social events and fun outings which Captech pays for. Most coworkers are fun too!

Cons

-New Bonus structure incentivizes employees to game PTO and how they bill client hours -Company is improving, but diversity is still a large issue. -Company is prioritizing hiring and growth of college hires, sometimes at the expense of more experienced and tenured hires -Consultants have lack of control over staffing, and with a new bonus structure, consultants can lose several thousand dollars of bonus for things outside their control such as a client delaying a few weeks to start a project. -Lack of control over projects can also lead to projects that are not the right fit skillset wise and impact a consultant's career path -Internal networking is sometimes necessary to get best opportunities
