Pros

-Most likely remote work -Endless opportunities to train and learn new skills -Most Co-Workers are great, intelligent people

Cons

I want this review to be inclusive of everything that is truly a con about Captech and provide those that may be entertaining working here some food for thought. I worked for Captech for multiple years with very few personal issues with any coworkers or much less management. I got promoted, progressed in my skillset, and got involved in office activities, and planning committees. However, over the course of the last year or so, a few things came to light; 1. Senior Managers etc, on stable clients/accounts form a cult, are full of themselves, and you will, if you are an outsider to it, must buy into it 2. The largest negative that is arising at Captech though, is not the large heads by more senior consultants, but rather a new unspoken policy that you will not find out about unless it happens to someone you are close with, or yourself. If you are on the bench for 90 days, they will fire you...with no heads up. This is immoral and makes 0 sense for many reasons; 1- This applies to all level of consultants. Besides maybe college hires since they have no experience, and are cheap for clients compared to more senior individuals, they will let you go point blank, regardless of how consistently you've been staffed leading up to this pt. More senior ppl than I were let go because of the same reasons. 2-Getting placed on a project is not up to you. I never turned down a project, and found myself on the bench waiting as project after project failed to get signed on for a contract. Projects are rejected by the firm as well, which creates a self imposed work shortage. The amount of companies requiring help in the data realm are vast and endless, so to say there is not enough work to assign your senior level data engineers and architects, is absurd on multiple counts. I was even passed up by less senior individuals who were on the bench less time than me, This would not have been a problem if the 90 day firing policy was known and considered by those in charge of placement. 3-They push for recommendations and to hire straight out of college... endlessly. Why on earth are you hiring constantly, for redundant positions, just to fire your current employees that are qualified and willing to fill the current vacant positions on projects. 4-Probably the most annoying aspect to all of this, is that it is CONSTANTLY stated that they want a consistent bench. They make a pt of ensuring a "healthy" bench for consultant availability, and work life balance, yet they will fire you over it without notice. They even go as far as to recommend you cool off from engagements on the bench. Overall, I am so very disappointed in a company that states to have your back, only to shove you out of the door, with 0 adequate explanation, rationale, logic, or humanity.

This is an incredibly tough review to see on our page. We understand that you have very strong feelings around your departure, but we have to say that your review feels not only inaccurate but also unfair. There is no cult like mentality in the halls of CapTech and there is no policy were we’d let go of people on the bench at the 90 day mark. First, we are happy to see that our people enjoy working with each other and learning from one another, but there is no exclusive behavior tolerated here. Second, we work hard to find and hire top talent, so benching people just to let them go at 90 days would not make sense. Our top performers are consistently picked for projects due to the skills and knowledge they bring to the client. In a case where we have an individual on the bench and not getting picked up for projects, we work with the individual and their coach to understand the situation and talk through potential outcomes. CapTech takes on projects that make sense for our business and our people. We have an incredible roster of clients that are at the top of their respective industries and a strong leadership team at CapTech that is focused on growth and our long term business state. Our college recruiting program is strong and we’re proud to be working with the future of tech talent. Any company looking at their growth strategy knows that early talent is an important aspect of their business. Our college hires are strategically mentored throughout their first year with us as part of the Discovery boot camp program. Our experienced talent plays a key role in helping college hires grow. Again, your review is tough to read when we pride ourselves on a culture that puts our people first. It’s in our Core Values, our Employer Value Proposition, and it drives everything we do. We never want our people to experience anything but the best here. We invite you to sit down with us and talk through this situation. Please feel free to reach out to me directly. – Katy Apostolides, Managing Director - HR

Pros

* Great work life balance * Solid compensation - especially for new grads * Some great coworkers and some great Engineering leaders. * Good if you're not looking for challenging tasks, and if you're really just trying to coast and cash a paycheck.

Cons

1.) It feels like it's really hard to navigate your career at CapTech. CapTech will put you into projects that do not align with your career interest and goals. I have also seen some of my colleagues get stuck on the bench for months on end and start to stagnate and not learn anything new. 2.) The client list and projects available is very very abysmal. There is not a lot of clients to choose from (it's not like you have a choice to choose where you end up anyways). 3.) Coaching culture is great for some, but a bust for many. Coaches really can make or break your experience at CapTech, and not all coaches are created equal. If you're stuck with a unenthusiastic/hands-off coach, you can really feel isolated and not set up for a great bonus or raise for the next year. 4.) The work is unchallenging, and really depends on your project. However from talking to most of my old colleagues, a lot of them do agree with my statement and think the work/workload is way too easy. 5.) The marketing team does a great job of making CapTech look sexy and cutting edge, but in reality it's just another firm where they're trying to win work and bill hours for the bottom line of making more money for the firm. 6.) I've seen a lot of wasted potential land bad projects, or never get staffed at all.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are sorry to learn that while there were many parts of your CapTech experience that you enjoyed, ultimately, you did not find your project as engaging as you had hoped. As a consultancy, our objective is to help our clients solve their most complex business and technological challenges. We serve as trusted advisors to deliver great work and ensure their needs are met. With that in mind, we can appreciate that not every project will be perfectly aligned to every consultant’s individual interests. Being an entrepreneurial firm, we support our consultants to explore their curiosities and cross-train in areas both within and outside of their practice areas and get involved in company-wide initiatives that often provide additional leadership opportunities. We are sorry your time with us was short, but we wish you the best of luck on your career journey and thank you for your contributions. Katy Apostolides, HR Director

Pros

- nice and talented people work here

Cons

Management is the biggest issue here. The ones that get promoted are usually the ones that has some kind of connection to the higher up. If you are looking for a regular 9 to 5 job, then this isn't it. They have good compensation and benefits but the downside is you could be working 50 to 60 hours each week.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review, and for being part of the CapTech team. CapTech promotes a positive work-life balance and career growth experience. That said, I could see how the experience in under a year could bring you to a different conclusion, especially depending upon the client work to which you were assigned. Occasionally, consultants need to go above and beyond to meet their client’s needs. In addition, promotions typically take place after 2-to-3 years in a role. We are sorry your time with us was short and you didn’t have the CapTech experience we wish for our employees. Thank you, again, for sharing your feedback. -- Katy Apostolides, HR Director
