Pros

The rank and file consultants are good people, and PA leads care about their workers. If you are on the right account, work/life balance can be a plus.

Cons

Full Disclosure: I was layed off at the beginning of this year after 10+ years with the company, high performer with multiple promotions and recognitions. I was given 2 hours warning, and my access was cut within about 30 minutes after an out of the blue call from HR. Layoffs are an unfortunate part of the corporate world, most people get this. However, any company that conducts them in such a callous way has a massive leadership problem. It shows how they truly think of the consultants that make up their company. You are nothing but a number to them at the end of the day...very "what have you done for me lately". This isn't a one-off either, layoffs have been occurring here on and off for 3 years with ZERO transparency from leadership. This has caused a massive degradation in company culture, and employees are panicked and looking to jump ship. Median tenure has plummeted, pay is well below market (but they continue to claim its not), benefits and bonuses have been slashed, along with discretionary spending and travel. They have recently been bragging about how they are again on the list of top places to work (laughable). Any company that has to lay off workers should be DQ'd for the year from appearing on any of these kinds of lists or getting any similar accolade. Repeated layoffs--especially when handled so poorly--are a reflection of failed leadership. Full stop, no way to spin it. I cannot recommend any prospective job seeker look here when they are so cavalier about how they treat employees. I predict a large scale exodus before EOY when they are going to stop awarding PTO payouts.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and reflections. We truly value your many years of dedication and contributions to CapTech, and we're sorry to hear that your departure felt abrupt and disappointing. Layoffs are never easy - for those affected and for those making the decisions. While they are sometimes necessary to ensure the long-term health of the business, we recognize that how they are handled matters deeply. I am sorry to hear that your experience did not reflect the care and respect we strive to uphold. Our goal remains to build a workplace where people feel valued, supported and informed - even when difficult decisions must be made. -Katy Apostolides, Managing Director - HR

Pros

Less travel than traditional consulting firms.

Cons

Employer low balls on salary negations - pays way under national average. They boast less a cutthroat bench policy to counterbalance compensation shortcomings, but that has changed in the past three years with mass layoffs occurring on a consistent basis.

Pros

There are some younger developers here who are nice people and one or two managers who are a decent people.

Cons

To summarize, this is a staffing company that is pretending to be something more. They bought in the hype and are now pretending they are doing these amazing AI things, while entire time I was there I was basically just working on the project that seems to be some pilot project for the client, which they don't even care about all that much. During hiring process, I have been told that I am being hired for senior position and that they have many clients which will allow me to decide where I want to work. Once I was hired, they simply tried to place me at any client just so they can start charging the client for my hours and not once have they asked me if I want to work for that client or gave me a choice on work location or the client. Once I got to the position, it quickly turned into the most junior position I have had in 15 years and not much later micro management of my time started. It was complete opposite of everything I have been told during hiring process. The culture here seems to push younger underpaid developers towards getting more work for the company. They constantly tell you to put on company shirt, even encourage you to go and try to steal contract from another company that does business with the client. I have witnessed presentations by younger developers where they describe this exact process. Keep in mind none of this is your job as a developer, but this is what they often talk about during company meetings, us going to get more work for CapTech. Beside micro management and zero choice in work, they show no respect towards your choices related to work environment. Our client actually did not want us onsite and most of our developers including me wanted to work remotely. However, they kept pushing us to work onsite and had mandatory number of days as a way of us to promote the company further to the client. This was despite the fact that client employees we engage with are not even on that site, it was simply designed to get developers to become salesmen and try to get some other contract from the client. Eventually client told us not to come onsite anymore. When I told them I am leaving, they ended up not giving me my last check and somehow calculated that my sign on bonus and my last check are about even so they owe me nothing on that last paycheck. All other comments are true regarding good old boys culture and company promoting people who put on this fake personality and just tell them what they want to hear. Do yourself a favor and avoid this toxic place.

I am sorry CapTech was not a good match for you. We are committed to providing a realistic representation of a CapTech career in our recruiting process, and we appreciate your feedback. We have amazing people at all levels, and I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to get to know them better and learn from them. I've always loved how much people at all levels are welcoming, enthusiastic and intellectually curious - especially when we get the chance to collaborate together. While remote work can be an amazing perk here and there, we work to have in-person collaboration with our clients and people as much as possible. While you are no longer with CapTech, if there are any outstanding items that you would like to discuss - please reach out. kapostolides@captechconsulting.com -Katy Apostolides, Managing Director - HR
