Pros

- pay is decent - they give you a good amount of vacation time overall -company phone plan and MiFi device -Opportunity to work on projects with some of the big names in banking

Cons

-Partners are cutthroat and only care about the bottom line -Tremendous lack of thought leadership at this firm. Capco tries to brand itself as a cutting edge Fintech consulting firm, but it is really just a PMO staff aug body shop -Performance review process is not transparent and is also very one sided. Bad managers survive because the subordinates who work under them are not able to share upward feedback. -Too many straight out of college 20 somethings are hired here, with not enough mid-career consulting professionals who have experience delivering meaningful project work at real firms - Metrics for performance reviews at each level are misaligned and don't make sense -Training classes that are offered are either not useful, not detailed enough, or not in the areas that will help consultants build marketable skills for client engagements -Difficult to consistently get staffed on projects unless you are part of the 'In' crowd, very cliquey, stiff, and uptight 'suit' culture

Thank you for your positive comments on our market-leading compensation and benefits at Capco and the opportunity to work with a variety of prestigious clients. We are disappointed to read some of your other points, however, and we would like to address each of these. Partners – Capco is growing fast. Our Partners are very engaged in developing the business but our people agenda remains front and center of everything we do. This is demonstrated by Partner sponsorship of a wide-variety of people initiatives, including the development of potential, talent deployment and leadership coaching. Our lack of hierarchy allows all staff regular access to senior leadership and Partners are expected to nurture and support the next generation of talent. Thought leadership – People join Capco from a variety of different backgrounds including large consulting firms and industry – one thing they all bring to the firm is a keen interest in and extensive knowledge of Financial Services. One of the many reasons our clients choose to work with Capco is for our deep industry knowledge and expertise. This is demonstrated through our award-winning thought leadership journal and publications. Performance management - Capco promotes an open and transparent approach to performance management. It is based on open challenge amongst assessors and joint reviews and decision making at performance roundtables. In 2017, we further increased transparency of the performance management process by the introduction of a new assessment framework based on employee feedback (and supported by a real-time feedback app to help people understand their capabilities and development needs). Training – we continually invest in our training curriculum including promotion schools, classroom-based training, leadership training and e-learning. We recently strengthened the link between learning and career by creating a personalized ‘Learning Journey’ for all employees (supported by an extensive learning library). Our training is designed and delivered through a combination of our training team, Capco SME’s and external facilitators. Project resourcing – our dedicated resourcing professionals invest a lot of time in understanding an employee’s skillset and career aspirations and aligning these with suitable roles and career paths. The leadership team has actively encouraged managers to engage with broader team members in staffing projects to optimize the deployment of the talent available. We take all feedback seriously and aim to continually improve the experience of our people at Capco. We believe strongly that people are at their best when they are happy and engaged at work. We would encourage you to discuss your specific concerns as well as any suggestions with your HR Business Partner or our regional HR Lead, Mary Keller.

Pros

Salary, great coworkers. If you want honest sentiment about this place, go on Fishbowl.

Cons

I was on the client side for 19months doing work an intern can accomplish. No Capco is NOT staff aug at all. I've let it be known and was suggested to go check out the happenings in digital. Nothing there. I have no idea what that digital acceleration team actually does besides discussing their work out routines. Great work if you can get it. Get paid to do absolutely nothing. I came from Big 4 and they weren't without their problems, but this place is a whole different level. I wish I could say I enjoyed my time here, but I looked at my Capco time as a break from my career.

We are pleased to hear that you recognize the market-leading compensation and benefits on offer at Capco and enjoy working alongside your Capco colleagues. We have lots of great people in the firm. Many employees join Capco from a Big 4 firm, as you did, and now relish the opportunities to make a real difference in a mid-size firm enjoying rapid and sustained growth. As we grow our consulting business, we are engaged in market-leading, innovative projects across areas like Payments, Financial Crime, Insurance and Digital. If anyone is unhappy on their project to which they are allocated or with the type of work they are performing, they are encouraged to use one of the many channels available to access support (including Coach, Manager, HR or a member of the leadership team). At Capco we recognize that people can be at their best when they are fully engaged and happy at work and we aim to provide everyone with the support and opportunities necessary so they can fulfil their potential.

Pros

Change sourcing is when employees are "sold" to the consulting company and continue to work for the client. The deal made with this client kept me from possibly being laid off

Cons

There was no management of the employee to consultant needs and expectations during the transition. Agree with the comments about the "Happy Hour Culture", if you don't participate you don't get ahead. Everyone has to fight to self-promote to the partners to greet ahead. Doesn't matter how great your work is, that's secondary to how many partners know you and how many hours you work beyond what you do for the client even when 100% allocated. Work-life balance doesn't exist if you want a promotion and even with 70 hour weeks it's iffy.
