Pros

Capco is an agile and nimble firm that allows individuals to find their own career path while still providing a support structure to enable that growth. I have been at Capco for almost 8 years and in that time have seen a lot of change, all of it positive. I've worked at larger "big 4" firms and would not disparage them, I just find that for myself I truly enjoy the flat structure, the merit based recognition. I find the organization easy to navigate and the access to senior management is unlike what I had experienced at other firms. I really think Capco is a great place to work and grow your skill set in the not just Financial Services but in the Technology that supports it as well. As someone who came in at a more junior level and has been able to take ownership of internal parts of the organization and help shape and grow our offerings and client relationships I really do see the value of the firm and encourage others to see it too.

Cons

The firm doesn't have quite the scale or name recognition (yet) of bigger firms so have to explain the value of Capco initially when talking to clients but once they understand who we are that becomes much less of an issue. I've seen other reviews about how "unfair" or "random" the review processes are, and I'd have to say I've never seen a "perfect" performance management system at any of the firms I've worked at nor at our clients, I think the management truly cares and fights for our people but it does require individuals to own their own career, for people who just want to punch the clock and "9 to 5" it - they're not going to see the same growth as someone who puts in the extra time and effort it takes to get ahead - and that's no different at Capco than anywhere else in my opinion.

Pros

The atmosphere is vibrant and, dare I say, fun. Yes we work hard too but each day is colourful.

Cons

Expanding rapidly so change is the order of the day; of course this could be a pro too, in time.

Thanks for your review! We would agree that Capco has a work hard, play hard ethos. We are a professional services firm committed to delivering outstanding, high quality work to our clients and shaping the future of financial services. However, a part of that, driven through our #BeYourselfAtWork movement, is about empowering our people to truly be themselves at work. We recognise that by creating an environment where people can be their authentic self, our employees will be happier and more engaged. The firm also actively fosters a collaborative environment in a number of ways including events, our social networking platform and coaching families. Thanks for your continued contribution to the Capco team!

Truly Dreadful

Pros

Good for a first job (but truly horrendous for experienced hires)

Cons

Plenty 1) Incompetent and selfish managers who bully and have almost nothing to offer 2) Clients who have a problem project but don't know how to fix it so they call in the cheapest agency. 3) Very low standards throughout the company, large complex projects are simply not possible despite all the big words, restricted to BAU problem projects.

Thank you for your feedback, however, we are very disappointed to read your review. We are also surprised by your comments, given many of the other reviews on here which talk about the many opportunities at Capco both for career progression, and to work on interesting projects with prestigious clients. With regards to your comments on managers, all employees are invited to participate in core training schools relevant for their grades. As employees progress through the firm, these sessions focus increasingly on people development, coaching and leadership. In addition to softer skills, our managers offers lots in terms of their depth of consulting knowledge and expertise in the financial services sector. You also reference bullying - we have stringent policies in place in relation to bullying and we are committed to ensuring that everyone who works at Capco can be themselves at work. If anyone feels they are in a position where they are being bullied, they are strongly encouraged to speak with their HR Business Partner, Coach or to reach out to our HR Lead, Amy Clark. There is always lots of support available, and bullying in any form will not be tolerated. In relation to Capco’s projects, we work with a long list of tier 1 clients. Many of these relationships extend over many years, and across multiple geographies. Capco focuses on complex change programs, and regularly wins work against some of the larger consulting firms in the market. Given your tenure at the firm, it is difficult to believe that you did not enjoy some of your time with Capco. We would encourage any current employees who have specific concerns to raise, or suggestions for improvements, to do so through one of the many channels available at Capco.
