Truly unique culture and support work environment

Pros

Main reason is culture; CG is all about it the right way and just simply being nice to each other. The company is very strong and consistent, its been around for 80 years. Its a very cushy place to work, with great benefits and morale.

Cons

In some way CG is very progressive, but in some ways too old fashioned. The company can take collaboration too far, where it slows projects to a crawl. Sometime you have to please so many different departments, the end product is neither fresh or exciting. Also, the company is against org charts for some reason, so its really hard to find the people you need to talk to. CG is not a lean organization, they have layers upon layers of management and decision makers.

Cons

Getting laid off after the economy tanked in 2008. For me, there were no cons working for American Funds.

Pros

The Capital Group offers good compensation and benefits, but it's not worth the pound of flesh they exact from your life and sanity.

Cons

It's all about what you might have done wrong in the perception of some unknown critic. Newer employees are under a microscope, and are considered defective until proven perfect. I have known over a dozen people who have worked there who corroborate my experience, so I know it's not a case of my judgement being clouded. I also know of some who thrive there, so if you like to swim with piranhas, this may be your cup of tea.
