Best company I know of for driven and honest individuals.
Pros
-Solid core values of honesty, integrity, and hard work. The CEO/founder is worth a ton of money, is in his 70s, and still puts in the hours and works a ton, and probably will until he drops. -Latest technology. Your laptop lagging? They'll send you a new one. Phone a little out of date? Here's the latest and greatest model. Chair uncomfortable? Here's the best one we could find. -Almost no bureaucracy. I answer to my regional manager, and he answers directly to the CEO. You need to move mountains for a customer? You can ask the CEO directly to help make it happen. CEO also participates directly in new hire training. -This can be a pro or a con, depending on the type of person you are, but growth is dependent on you. No matter how long you've been with the company, if you don't show the right traits and abilities, you're not going to move up. Also, you'll be paid according to the value you bring, not the hours or years you've put in. -Very little overnight travel. The occasional training or if you need to travel for a customer, but that's about it. -Reimbursed for any reasonable work related expenses. Reimbursed for miles you put on your car, lunch meetings with clients, office supplies, per diem when traveling overnight, etc. You just submit an expense report and it's back in your account in about a week. -Competitive benefits. Other companies I know of are comparable. -CaptiveAire dominates the commercial kitchen ventilation industry. The product sells itself, you just have to not screw it up. -Work life balance is encouraged, though not always great in certain areas. You can always talk to your manager about it to get it to improve, and if that falls on deaf ears then you can talk to someone at corporate. They really care about your quality of life, not just what they get out of you.
Cons
-No company car. Not a big deal but other companies do it. You are reimbursed for any mileage you put on your car though. -You wear many hats, which can be tough for some. Sometimes you're an engineer, sometimes you're a salesman, sometimes you're support, and sometimes you're more like a contractor. I tend to love it though, keeps things interesting. -High level of responsibility which can be stressful. You're doing big complicated projects without a ton of people checking your work, so most of it is on you. It's the only way to do it and run streamlined though, so it's just the way it is. -There is no natural way to progress aside from becoming a regional manager, and for most there's nothing beyond regional manager. You can make a ton of money as a regional manager though, so I don't hear a lot of complaints.
