Pros
There are a lot of good people to work with at CaptiveAire, pay is ok, and there are some transferable skills.
Cons
Where to begin. This is all based on my experience at the Redding plant. First off, there is no leadership. The people in charge are very shady, will outright lie to you, will falsify documents, and show zero concern for your wellbeing. This is in addition to failure to accomplish even the most basic managerial responsibilities, such as maintenance. The constant and continuous failures of leadership are only matched by corporate's disregard for the employees. Their policies are stacked against you, and are entirely focused on maintaining the company's, and only the company's, interests. They do not accept doctors notes, so if you are out of PSL and your incident doesn't fall under FMLA you will be written up, regardless of the situation. This won't change if you are ordered by them to stay home to prevent getting others sick. They will also change policy and refuse to notify the workers. There is a culture of corruption at the plant. If you are friends with people in management, you can get away with things that no one else can, things that are against policy, as well as things that are against the law. A member of management was caught, allegedly(legal reasons), falsifying time sheets for their son. This allowed him to be payed overtime wages for time he did not work, as well as avoiding write ups. This ended with just a stern talk. They also tell workers that they are not allowed to take a second lunch at 10 hours, only at 12 hours. This is illegal. They will take advantage of their workers, in part by "promoting" them to higher level positions but then failing to increase their wages. When asked about it, the canned response is "come talk to me in 6 months and I'll see what I can do." Of course, unless you are constantly badgering them, you won't get anything. Burnout rates are incredibly high. Matched only by turnover rates. Waste is high. Morale is low. There are only a handful of people who have any respect for management, and those are the people who are friends with them, so that makes sense. The only thing the place has going for it is that it pays a little better than average for the area. When it comes to the customer, we are expected to just send everything out and hope for the best. It's production over everything else, with safety and quality completely disregarded. They won't protect their workers from toxic fumes, my orientation consisted in part of being shown live 240V exposed wires that powered a gantry. Literally electrocution waiting to happen. Above the shipping office is a loading/storage area that's failing, but also holds up several thousand pounds of supplies. If it collapsed it would literally kill the people in the shipping office. The list goes on. If it were better run, it would be a pretty good place to work for. They have a lot of good, competent people working there, its just that management suppresses any improvement and keeps the good people under their thumbs.
