Pros

This is an awesome place to work. Our office is situated in one of the coolest downtown areas of Louisville - "NuLu". The office is often described by visitors as what they imagine Google offices look like...we have a Foosball table! High energy is the look and feel, inside and out. I love our hours: 9 to 5, M-F. Growth is incredible. I am a seasoned sales professional with over 20 years professional B2B sales and sales management experience - nowhere have I ever seen the growth we are experiencing. This company has several divisions, all with one focus: to be the leader in the key and remote industry. That has offered me tons of new learning experiences like attending trade shows and being involved with new marketing pieces. I thought after 20 years I had seen it all. Car keys Express proved me wrong.

Cons

Some may see having to wear more than one hat as scary, or a con. This is a fast company - there are times that "all hands on deck" apply. I will say many departments that had one person in them when I started now have multiple people in them...more hands on deck is always nice. Sometime there aren't enough hours in the day to do all you would like to with tasks that come across your desk, so if your the type that likes to "clear your desk" before you leave for the day, that may be a challenge. There is a never ending TO-DO list.

Pros

* Unlimited potential for growth * They prefer to promote from within and tend to exercise every option before reaching out for filling new positions * Job security - they have never laid anyone off * Fast paced - the days go by very quickly * Awesome colleagues - you work with some of the best people you could ask for * 9-5 schedule is exactly as stated - management respects the employees' time away from the office * Challenging - a company with a niche product and service such as CKE will occasionally encounter growing pains. Group efforts provide solutions and almost serve as team-building exercises. * A sense of ownership when you get to observe the growth. * Great perks / benefits / 401k

Cons

* Some growing pains were worse than others. There were a few times when it did get frustrating but nothing that couldn't be overcome. These became rare as time went on and more people were hired to work at the corporate headquarters.

Pros

Ability to make your own schedule. Good work / life balance. Starting pay is decent but is set with no raises. Benefits are solid. Coworkers at the same level are friendly and willing to help anyway they can.

Cons

This used to be a great company to work for, but as it has grown they've overcomplicated things and forgotten about the people that helped them get to where they are now. Employees in the field are required to complete several mundane and unnecessary tasks daily, these take away from focusing on your job. No communication between corporate and employees in the field. Account managers are purposely kept in the dark. More and more micromanagement is added every year. Employees are regularly tracked and spied on. No trust between coworkers. Company is on their fourth operations director in as many years... due very tense atmosphere at head quarters. No room for advancement.

Car Keys Express Response

Another post from the distressed *former* employee we had to let go. It’s unfortunate this opportunity for feedback for everyone has been diluted by this series of repetitive rants by this one person-- a person who felt “micromanaged” because he wasn’t engaged in the position, relying on the determination of everyone else. Eventually, it has ill effects on other people who are engaged and want to do a good job. On the upside, he’s given us an opportunity to publicly respond! Micromanagement *can’t* happen in a company growing as fast as ours. There’s only one way to grow a company this fast, that’s to hire good people, train them, then *let go* and let them make the decisions. It’s impossible to grow fast otherwise, and we’ve been growing like crazy--doubling our payroll over the past 36 months. We’ve had yet another record-breaking year of sales. We’ve never been stronger. Our average Tech/Account Manager makes over $60k, our top earners, almost $100k. All this is available to you with your hard work and good communication which is welcome anytime. Due to the work of our great team, we've averaged an amazing 50% revenue growth year over year during the past four years. We continue to reinvest in our people by keeping our vans stocked aggressively, keeping our vans stocked better than anyone in the industry. This ensures our awesome technicians are by far, the best paid in the industry. Update: 3/14/15 Improvements to feedback system: One example of many is we constantly looking for ways to improve our feedback system to allow for better communication between our team and upper management. Of course, we still offer our feedback system which has always allowed for anonymous messages to management. We’re rolling out some exciting enhancements just next week that will make the system easier to use. More coming soon!
