A Great Place to Work

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

The people here are what make this company special. They are smart, genuine, and down-to-earth individuals who really care about what they do and about each other. There is a clear connection between effort and impact. Leadership is approachable and transparent, and collaboration is the norm. My manager supports my growth and gives me the space to own my work.

Cons

Things can move quickly at times, and priorities shift as the business evolves. You need to be flexible and keep pace. It’s worth it if you enjoy variety and problem solving.

Pros

This organization is an excellent place to bring your ideas forward and truly be heard. Collaboration cross-functionally isn’t just encouraged, it happens daily creating a genuinely cooperative environment. The company offers great perks, a few being a $15 daily lunch subsidy where food is brought into the office, one month sabbatical after five years, and a discount on vehicle purchases after two years. Company goals and strategy are communicated transparently from all different forms of leadership, giving you a clear understanding of how your work contributes to company success. It’s a work hard, play hard culture that respects work life balance. Time off is encouraged, and internal growth is supported. When people are heads down, it’s because they’re invested, not burned out, which makes CarGurus a place where ambition and well-being can thrive together.

Cons

While I don't consider the 60% hybrid model a con, I do wish there was more flexibility in how we choose to balance our time between the office and home. Greater autonomy and managing that split could enhance both productivity and individual work styles.

Thank you for this thoughtful review. The benefits you mentioned—including the $15 lunch subsidy, one-month sabbatical after 5 years, and Auto Perk car discount—are great examples of how we support our employees. We hope you've been able to make our flexible hybrid model work for you as we've evolved the policy and added elements like Flex Days and tracking tools to make it even more flexible and seamless for Gurus.

Poor Manager Experience

Recommend
CEO approval
Business Outlook

Pros

Great benefits (lots of additional benefits if you are hybrid and going into the office), Executive leadership relatively down to earth

Cons

Poor training for new managers leading to bad experience as a direct report, lack of feedback, lack of transparency in the performance review cycle, lack of development and growth opportunities for supporting functions, questionable culture from certain people (heard jokes about layoffs, performance, and other sensitive employee topics in the office)
