Pros

Able to work full time, also flexible hours if need be. Fun place to work, full of activities, great to be around kids, 3 hours for nap time for the kiddos, long time for lunch (can be 30min-3hours). If lunch is longer than one hour, they compensate you for the day paying you like $12 each day called a split shift. Every time they have a job opening, they post it so employees can see it first and apply. This program is pretty big which lets employees be able to transfer to different locations and sites. They also offer substitutes/ on call positions. Provide health, dental, vision, life insurance (takes some money from your check for it but employer does pay for part of it) You get PTO, sick days, and hours that add up.

Cons

Management was switching because of some sketchy people up top so that reflected very poorly on the current managers at certain sites. Hopefully the new Program Manager of this location will take it seriously and actually care for employees.

Thank you for your comments. We are glad you feel our benefits and vacation are the highlight of our company. We recently increased the amount of sick time off benefits provided and will continue to evaluate and review over time and adjust as needed. We also value your feedback regarding program support and assessment, particularly with the School Age need. Program support and training are key resource to the success of our centers and staff and we will continue to assess support needs and effectiveness and adjust as needed. In addition to regular in-person professional development, we have a myriad of other possible ways for teachers to advance their skills including video conferencing, online sessions and center visits. We also strive to recruit candidates with permits whenever possible. That said, we also realize there are many candidates that don’t yet have their permits due to a variety of reasons. Our company supports the learning, growth and educational opportunities for employees and candidates to get the units and experience required in order to obtain their permits. We encourage our staff to reach out to anyone in management or Human Resources if they have concerns that impact our programs and employee’s ability to effectively teach our children.

Pros

The philosophical ideologies of how best to address the needs of the children consisted of engaging and fun activities solely based on student interests.

Cons

Job duties/expectations were "blurred." I was hired as an Assistant Site Manager, but was required to work as a teacher ("camp counselor") over the summer. At this site, "The customer (child) is always right." The children were allowed to be disrespectful to staff, and staff was not allowed to share misbehaviors of children with their parents.

Thank you for your comments. We are particularly proud of our child-led learning approach and this has been something that our employees and candidates have been excited about as well. We are working toward further clarity of roles to provide better understanding of job expectations including the roles of all our staff during summer camp. It is important to note that camp is different from our school year program and there are times when staff take on additional or different support roles to adjust to the enrollment and program needs. We encourage staff to share any concerns or questions regarding engagement with children in their care with the leadership team or Human Resources so that the situation can be addressed straightaway.
