Pros

Clinic management •I feel I am being supported and pushed in the best ways by not only my direct manager but also by the management team as a whole. Clinic staff/training •I enjoy going to work everyday as there are so many employees, both in and out if the clinic, who I look forward to seeing and working with. Whenever anyone has a question, it is very easy to find another associate who is willing to help you which is very nice. The training process is incredibly thorough which makes this a great job to come into without previous healthcare experience. There are also a lot of opportunities to advance within both the clinic and the company itself. They do a good job with promoting from within. Company Pride •Celerion does very interesting work so it is easy to feel a sense of pride in the work you are doing everyday no matter how menial it may otherwise seem. I feel very proud to tell friends and family about what Celerion does as a company! Flexibility for clinic staff •They are pretty flexible with school schedules so this job is great to have if you are a student. Employee appreciation •It seems like every few weeks there is some sort of treat, goody, or activity for staff to celebrate a holiday or even “just because” :) I have also received a few gift cards from incentives, training games, holiday bonuses, and holiday shifts. I feel that myself and my work are appreciated by not only my direct management but also by the company in general.

Cons

Schedules • Sometimes studies have last minute changes so schedules may not be released very far in advance. I will say when there is a holiday coming up, they seem to do a pretty good job of at least releasing the schedules for the holiday and surrounding days so you can still make plans a few weeks in advance which is nice.

Pros

As everyone previously states, employee comradery

Cons

There is a lack of science background/knowledge in regards to upper management decisions. Some managers with significant science background have left, hard to move within company with a decent pay bump, clear favoritism within most departments, management is blissfully unaware of what is happening in the labs.

Many thanks for taking the time to give us some feedback and your support for the time you were part of the department. I appreciate your thoughts on the lack of scientific background and knowledge with relation to upper management decisions. In July this year I was hired as the new Executive Director for Bioanalytical Services and I have more than 25 years’ direct experience in bioanalysis. I am taking a very proactive and committed involvement in all the activities within Bioanalytical working closely with all of the experience staff within the department. I do not know when you left our employment but I firmly believe that the particular challenges you have highlighted are certainly key area’s I hope that my management style and also direct bioanalytical experience and ability will quickly help to impact. A key priority for the departments senior leadership is engagement of the whole team and commitment to the departments success through retention and development of our team members and I hope that if you had any friends still working within the department you will be able to hear very positive signs to the new direction we are taking the department even in my first few short months. Tim Sangster – Executive Director Bioanalytical Sciences.
