Pros

CNS is doing meaningful work, helping brain injured patients get well. The clinical leadership is highly competent and therefore, its a great place to work if you want to be in a teaching environment. The skills learned to assist with behavioral patients is valuable to take with you anywhere. The fact that this is a family owned business is rare, and it is clear that the entire family (which there are many family members who work at CNS) cares a lot for the employees and the patients.

Cons

Due to the high turnover in some locations (which has been typical of most medical companies during 2021/2022), some of the culture is taking time to rebuild, as there are a lot of new staff members. Some people say that CNS doesn't pay competitively but I feel that my salary is competitive and that they respect my life-work balance. The brain injury population is a challenging population to work with, so only people with big hearts and a willingness to learn need apply.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience…thank you! At Centre for Neuro Skills, we value our employees and love being able to share knowledge to help our staff grow and our patients regain their lives. We are glad that you recognize this and find it meaningful and valuable. We are very lucky to be one of the few post-acute brain injury programs, that remains family-owned; and are blessed to have a family and leadership team dedicated to providing a positive experience for all. As you noted, these last few years dealing with the pandemic has been challenging for almost everyone (inside and outside CNS) with higher turnover than in previous years. It was also a challenging time for onboarding new employees in a manner for them to be able to understand our culture and who we are as an organization. As a result of previous feedback, we developed Employee Engagement committees to engage/re-engage our staff (new and tenured) to create activities to enhance our culture, we hope that you are seeing positive movement in this area. If you have any additional suggestions, please reach out to your HR representative - We are always open to new ideas and members. We are glad to hear that you feel that CNS is competitive regarding wages. Our leadership and HR teams have worked diligently to ensure that we have the best people at CNS and that we are competitive in the marketplace. We would welcome the opportunity to explore areas that you feel management could improve related to transparency. If you are open to discussing this further, please reach out to your manager or your local HR representative to share your observations and suggestions. Thank you again for your valuable feedback.

Pros

A family-oriented company that provides a good work-life balance, and flexibility. Leadership genuinely cares about employees. Long duration of employees many with 10-20 years of history with the company. Contribution to 401K, health benefits, and competitive pay. PROMOTES from within, and provides an opportunity to transfer to other CNS locations.

Cons

Working with the brain injury population can be challenging at times if you don't have a passion for helping others.
