Pros

- Came in with little previous marketing experience and there was always room to get taught and mentored, learned a ton and wasn't looked down upon for my lack of knowledge - they tapped into skills I was strong at and built upon those. - People here are what made my experience great. Atmosphere is a wonderful balance of work/play and there seems to be a tight comradery - Amazing A-list client list full of different areas - Room for growth and moving up if you're patient... Always higher-level opportunities if you aren't too sidetracked by titles and raises

Cons

- High turnover can mean that employees and clients aren't on the same page. - Management positions are also turning over, and sometimes those people are trying to do too much on the client facing side to learn how to best manage their department. - Communication between inner departments needs to be more clear to avoid issues and mismatched expectations

Pros

Smart team... very friendly, close knit place. Busy, entrepreneurial agency environment. Definitely not a place to hide out and expect things to be handed to you. Great if you're motivated by the work, not the title or pecking order. Business is almost too good with tons of work from great existing clients and new business always in the pipeline. Engaged, caring and accessible management. A place where you can actually affect the way the business operates, the way the work is done, etc.

Cons

Growing company shifting from being a small business to a leading mid-size digital marketing agency. Structure and workflow is evolving -- a growing pain -- so you have to be engaged, active and motivated to take advantage of the opportunities that exist, or make your own. Movement can seem slow due to conservative business management so you have to be a little patient, but less so over the past months.

Get Experience, Then Get Out

Pros

This search agency has a great roster of clients, including some well-known national brands. The people who work here are also pretty exceptional. As an employee, you are able to interact directly with clients, and get hands-on experience at most project levels, which is invaluable as you are learning.

Cons

There is ultimately a career dead-end. Management doesn't seem concerned with fostering individual careers and providing growth opportunities. Look at the team -- turnover is really high and with just a couple of exceptions, most people have only been there for 1-3 years. As you "move up the ranks" it begins to become clear that upper management second guesses everything, looks for people to blame when something isn't going well, and will often throw employees under the bus to save face with a client. Best advice is to watch your back, and move along to get a promotion.
