Pros

Chemours carries a string technical competence in the technologies and products it brings to market. My colleagues are hardworking and diligent, a pleasure to work with. As Chemours has been forced to lean itself out, numerous opportunities to shine present themselves to those who aspire.

Cons

The challenging business climate Chemours finds itself in coupled with the untenable debt position it was put into by DuPont has forced the company into a period of uncomfortable cost crunches that has made work at the manufacturing sites tiresome. Layoffs, budget cuts, and a seeming lack of comprehension at the corporate level of just how low morale has fallen makes for a bleak future outlook with Chemours. Much of the arduous DuPont bureaucracy remains, further frustrating those tasked to do more with less.

Pros

Nothing. Work in the chemical plant environment. Good experiences and continue to learn everyday. Good troubleshooting skills being developed on daily basic.

Cons

Long hours with no compensation. Depends on what organization you are working for, it could be a very hostile environment. Leadership are useless and have no vision whatsoever. A lot of backstabbing and discriminating. Bad safety environment. Fume release alarm, fire alarm and medical alarms go off at least 3-4 times a month.

Pros

Probably a better place to work than the company that it was spun off from (Dupont). Still pay decent salaries, and benefits are middle of the road/OK. Probably some good opportunities for recent college grads and those with a few years experience, as the company goes thru re-organization, and tries to skew the average worker age to younger.

Cons

Since most of the employees were spun off from Dupont, the average age of the employees is somewhere in the 50's. As a result, there are no opportunities for career advancement for seasoned employees. Lots of layoffs at the lower organization levels to where there are knowledge gaps in how things work. Those who remain are left to pick up the slack, and wind up doing multiple people's jobs, all while being told that the corporate 401K contribution is being cut by 3%, benefits are being cut while their costs are going up, and no merit raises or promotions. At the same time, the company is executive/ senior management top-heavy, as they all look to ways to protect their jobs. No real diversity at the executive and senior management levels, as almost all of them are white males, which is a shift in the wrong direction from where things were at Dupont. Corporate headquarters are located in downtown Wilmington, DE, in an old building that used to be the old corporate HQ of Dupont, before they moved to a state of the art building in the suburbs and dumped this white elephant on Chemours. Unlike other metropolitan areas with lots of attractions (museums, stores, restaurants, etc), working in the city of Wilmington has nothing to offer. The city has a wage tax of 1.25%, cost of parking is exorbitantly high for a small town like Wilmington, and all this cuts into salaries. There is no real downtown shopping district, and after about 5:30pm, downtown empties out real quickly, as the crime rate is high, and there is no nightlife.
