Pros

Great place to learn about the oil industry. If you're willing to take on assignments (without worrying about who gets credit for the work or the promotions) there are plenty of interesting assignments. Some of these assignments can take you to very interesting, exotic parts of the world.

Cons

Quality of co-workers can be all over the place. Strategy forward (at least in downstream) is unclear. Still a very white, male organization. It's very hard for women / minorities to get on the management career path.

Like all big companies, slow on the uptake

Pros

An oil company trying to do the right thing. The benefits and pension package is good. Great focus on safety and developing people. If one is willing to relocate, there is a lot of opportunity.

Cons

A lot of time is spent building consensus. Many processes hamper the organizations ability to be nimble. Constant org change results in missed opportunity for moving the business forward as the employees are distracted by whether or not they will have a job.

Pros

decent salary and 8% matching for 401k. Chevron is a great place to work. Most people work 40 hours per week, but just like other companies, curtain positions required longer working hours. They offer 9/80 schedule.

Cons

going through layoff right now. Chevron is having one of the biggest downsizing. There are alot of uncertain as Chevron will layoff more than 3000 people over the next 1-2 years.
