Pros

Large district with many different opportunities as different schools. Decent benefit package.

Cons

Each school is autonomous and you are at the mercy of the administration. If you are in a low performing school the administrators are under a lot of pressure and they are usually the least desirable people to work for. They are taught specific ways to torment you and force you to leave or file a grievance. I've been with the system for 20 years in various roles. Also, a product of CPS when it was great!

Pros

Computer Science For All is a fantastic idea. In this day and age I think all High School students should have some exposure to computer science principals and algorithmic thinking. The teachers who helped me transition from industry to a high school instructor. I had not felt the type of comradrey among fellow colleagues since I was in the military. Paid holidays off, two weeks off during the winter, one week paid and summers(non-paid) off.

Cons

So many problems I can't name them all, but here are a few 1. At the time I was there, there was no Computer Science Coordinator at the district office. 2. The district wants it students to earn Industry level certifications without providing the tools and equipment the students will need to earn the certification. 3. No books for students and online materials is not suitable substitute. 4. You don't know if you will be working next year, or laid off. 5. Convoluted and confusing performance review process. 6. Very little transitional training for people coming from IT industry.
