Pros

The work is incredibly rewarding and challenging. The company has grown significantly in the last two years, adding researchers with a broad range of expertise to tackle questions related to children's mental health. There are opportunities for mentorship embedded within a highly collaborative workspace.

Cons

Given the quantity and diversity of research projects at the Child Mind Institute, it can be difficult to prioritize and manage your time.

Pros

- Strong mission - Great people - Fast-paced environment - Opportunities to develop new programs and innovation - if employees want to spearhead a project, they can very easily do so

Cons

- No clear pathway for professional development and advancement - people stay in the same role for many years - Lack of integration between teams/departments - Lots of ego -- the majority of staff in the organization have advanced degrees and there are a lot of comparisons

Pros

Dedicated staff truly cares for the work they do. Clinical staff is extremely knowledgeable and willing to take time to teach or explain the work they do. Opportunities to receive invaluable experience interacting with clients and families. Access to learning opportunities through lectures hosting onsite clinical staff and outside professionals in the field. If you're an open advocate for yourself and ask for learning opportunities, the clinical and administrative staff are accomodating. Many administrative staff go on to graduate school in varied clinical fields (including me), and working at CMI provides great insight to help in your future clinical experience

Cons

Upper management is not always transparent. Could use better communication. Can be extremely demanding hours (at least when I was there) Clientele or upper management can be difficult to deal with (this a great learning experience and opportunity as long as you have a tough skin). Can be challenging to juggle different expectations from administrative protocols, upper management, and clinical staff. High turn-over rate in the administration department because there's very limited opportunities for upward movement/promotions within
