Pros

Growth opportunities are amazing. You tend to have fun while you work. Time Flies during your busiest time. Helath Benefits are great for Salary Managers

Cons

Require a lot of time at work, sometimes too much. Growth opportunities after you initiate them, seem to be forced or otherwise your terminate, though legally that can never be said. When critiqued on your store, it never says what you are doing right. Sometimes stressful.

Pros

-Surrounded by passionate and smart people -The company is growing tremendously, opportunities should open up -Great mission statement -Casual work environment

Cons

-An eccentric co-ceo/founder -Lots and lots of people get fired, far more than the average. If you have a bad day, watch out, you may get canned -Pay is low for similar jobs in the Denver area -Only 2 weeks of vacation and does not go up until you have been here for 5 years -Employee development is great at the restaurant level, not at the corporate level

Pros

Predictable workflow and scheduling. Ability to move to new cities or states. Systems/procedures are already in place for staff to follow.

Cons

As a GM you tasked with the challenge to take a failing location and turn it into a top level "R" status location. Unfortunately the crew turnover rate is 100% or higher and the staff that has tenure is often a poison pill that is unwilling to change or improve. Additionally, my management staff moved me 3 times because one or more of these crew members complained that they were unhappy with me as a manager. This would be following an attempt to improve them or hold them accountable. So in actuality it is a losing battle that you cannot win IMO. The management team above me was unwilling to back me so that I could gain traction and respect within my location to effect change that was needed to reach the goals for that location. If you are going to be successful in this company you have to figure out a way to change bad attitudes and complacency without upsetting the crew that are used to being coddled and catered to any time they have negative feelings. On the day I was fired I was trying to coach one of the crew members and one of the 9 year crew members decided to chime in and verbally disregard my instructions in front of the crew member I was attempting to teach about why they need to follow the linebacker's assessments instead of ignore them. I asked the offending employee to stop and indicated that I would talk to them later about the incident. After rush hour I asked the offending crew member to come chat with me in the office and was told "No. I don't need to talk to you". I asked them to clock out in that case. Hours later my manager called me and fired me with no explanation other than an employee felt that I wasn't melding with the crew. Hard to meld when you have to get rid of horrifically behaved coddled individuals. When I attempted to bring my concerns to higher management I didn't get a response at all. I'm deeply disappointed in the way I was treated given the fact that I was doing exactly what I was hired to do. I would not have changed anything about the way I managed my facility. The facility was showing marked improvements across the board after I took over. I was treated extremely unfairly.
