Its a decent job for kids or people desperate for some work
Pros
• Flexible hours (able to do school [high school or college]) • Co-workers & managers were nice • You are usually kept busy so your shift can go by quickly • The things they expect are relatively easy to do
Cons
• You are expected to do a lot of things. More than 1 person can do by themselves. • If you are not a minor (18+) you could possibly not get a break even if you do 8 or more hours, all of which is unfortunately legal where I live. So, if you are 18+ check your state's labor laws on breaks. • Some co-workers either quit/didn't show up/left unexpectedly and it will make your shift even more stressful due to the added work • It seems that they just want the bare minimum amount of staff, in some cases having a person doing multiple positions by themselves with little to no help Let's be honest, a job at Chuck E. Cheese is really more meant for those looking to get started on their resume or a job to fill it up. It gets you a feel for how working can be like, especially in customer service and fast food, while understanding their main employees are students/minors and being flexible for them. You will be expected to do a lot of things, especially since it seems like they are changing it so that they want the cashier person to do the merchandise stand, upkeep of the salad bar/lunch buffet, cleaning, cashiering (of course), but also kid check and possibly the Road Show (when you have to put on the suit) if your game technician/attendant cannot do it. I mainly worked when we had a game attendant on staff, so I did not have to experience having to do the Road Show but I had to do Kid Check when Corporate didn't want any ropes or lines up for the summer. It was a mess and frequently I found myself unable to stamp a few families but more commonly I couldn't get to them in time to go ahead and check their stamps; they, of course, just walked out without stopping to get checked. Luckily, they have changed their minds are said to bring back ropes but you will still find yourself booking it to the kid check to either stamp or check families coming in or out. Also if you are closing it does mean you have to do all the cleaning procedures for kid check, cashier, and merchandise. These are just a few things I've noticed within my year or working as a part-time cashier.
