Pros
This is a stable job and there is flexibility in regards to time off.
Cons
I've been working here a few years and it's been a very frustrating experience overall. I love my coworkers; however, management is extremely lackluster. They don't provide any training and you're left to figure most things out on your own. While I am extremely motivated and industrious, I feel that management should be more invested in their staff. I truly never feel 100% confident in what I am doing as most of what I've learned is by using Google and reviewing former records from previous employees. I have no guidance or insight from my manager at all. I am one of many who feel this way about the management in this department. Our manager has also been so rude and unkind in the past that I and others have been made to cry. After these interactions, I have learned to not speak up, keep my mouth shut and say yes to every request from management as I need my job to survive. So far this has been working and life at work has been peaceful. Also, a few of us have spoken to our Human Resources representative in the past regarding our concerns only to be reprimanded and made to feel even more frustrated and that our feelings truly don't matter. Human Resources defended the actions of our manager and told us that it's the management style and we need to deal with it. The Glint surveys are a joke too. Over a year ago our manager received a very poor rating. We were told our manager would meet with us to discuss our concerns. That never happened. I gave the worst ratings possible on this year's survey as well but I know for a fact nothing will change. There is absolutely no communication in my department. It's very frustrating to have a colleague come to you and tell you that the manager wants to pile even more work on top of your already busy work schedule. Management doesn't even have the decency to discuss this directly with you. They have someone else do the dirty work for them. This has also happened with other employees. They find out from other employees that they have new job duties. Then even though you're doing the work of three people, you're told that you're not doing enough for a promotion. It's a very miserable, depressing work environment. More and more work is piled onto your already heavy work load with no thank you, no financial incentive and more put downs (not doing enough for a promotion). The same person in our department keeps getting promoted (two times in the past two years) while the rest of us work like dogs fighting to be appreciated and paid properly. I know hard working people who have been here over five years and still haven't been promoted. There really is no opportunity to properly learn anything in this company because you're always having to put out fires/fix problems constantly. There is way too much work and no training so you're constantly struggling to stay afloat. There is just too much to do to really take the time to learn a new topic or task. At Church & Dwight, you're not thriving, you're just trying to survive. There is no work/life balance at Church & Dwight. People here are notorious for waiting until the end of the day on a Friday to ask you for something "urgent". You're expected to "roll up your sleeves" and work around the clock. While I'm happy to pitch in and do extra work here and there, I have a life outside of work and will not let my family life suffer. I really feel that this company has great potential as long as the issues with management can be resolved.
