Pros

Flexible schedule and The free movies, it's an easy job and you have a fun time making friends with co-workers

Cons

Management is incompetent. Most are unqualified for their positions and they break many rules and don't respect the employees. They will stand in the middle of the lobby on a busy day chatting instead of helping. They don't reward employees for a job well done and pick favorites based on personality alone.

Pros

Easy job, free movies, free popcorn and drinks while you work, half off food while you work, most of the people who work there are great.

Cons

Low pay grade. My theater in particular puts a $0.25 cap on raises per year. Employees are lucky if they receive more than $0.15 raises. Unprofessional management. Hypocritical attitudes from management toward employees. Don't yell at me for having my cell phone in my pocket and take yours out five minutes later. Favoritism. Certain employees are favored over others, and most of the time this favoritism is based on personal preference, not merit. Those who are favored get the best shifts while the rest of us work every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They are also held to a lower standard, and don't have to work as hard. The degrading "Mr./Mrs." titles for management. It's a bit ridiculous that I should have to refer to someone my age or younger by "Mr. So-and-so."

Pros

-Free movie tickets (Movies must be in the theater for atleast 2 weeks and have not been selling out. Can't be midnight showings or previews either) -Free popcorn and drinks (You have to bring your own cup and container, though. The handbook says only 1 drink and 1 popcorn are allowed and only during breaks but we're lucky enough to be allowed drinks and popcorn whenever and are allowed to keep it in the back of the stand.) -Flexible with requesting days off -Quick and easy to learn -Great for a first job- I love my co-workers and managers. Everyone knows how to have fun and just laugh!

Cons

-Incredibly rude customers on a daily basis -No recognition for a job well done -Forced to up sell and suggestive sell when it's obvious customers are getting annoyed, frustrated and don't want to hear it. - I'm only 18 and suffering from back problems from lifting the popcorn seed, oil, butter and soda syrups when restocking and from standing on my feet for up to 9-10 hours a day - Schedules are usually for 8 hour shifts but in the concession stand, you usually work 9 or 10. (Due to restocking and cleaning if you're a closing shift. Opening shifts are sometimes 9-5 which doesn't make any sense considering the closers don't come in until atleast 4 and you don't get off your register until 5 o'clock because it's always busy. Who seriously schedules movies during change-over?!?! Pisses me off.) - I've had to close the stand on a school night a few times. Was there until 1am with class at 7am. Movie's should be scheduled no later than 10pm especially during the week so the theater can close down and employees can get out of there before midnight. - Managers are always disappearing when you need them most! If you're out of ones in your register, have a customer complaint that needs to be addressed or even a refund, you have to track down your manager which can take awhile which slows down your line and ticks customers off (and they always decide to take it out on you, too) - It's mandatory for everyone to work holidays- Christmas, New Years, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc. etc. It's ridiculous! Worked 12 hours on Christmas Day when I was only scheduled for a 9am-5pm shift because it was so busy and they made me stay. - Open 365 which I personally think is awful. Give everyone a break for once! -Have worked at the same theater for almost 2 years now. Only recieved a single $.10 (Yes. TEN CENTS) raise before the minimum wage went up. Now I'm still making minimum wage.
