Pros

This is a required field, so I had to put something.

Cons

No strategy. No market fit. No innovation. All the leaders just want to be a boss, they don't care if it is successful or not, as long as they have a big title and can say they are in charge. Nobody wants to actually do any work to improve the product, offering, or culture. HR is not helpful. They also just want to be the boss. Nobody listens. Nobody cares. Everyone just needs to have their ego stroked and be told they are THE boss. HR is supposed to be a resource for employees, not a weapon to hide confidential, shared information until they can use it to their benefit (again, to show they are the boss).

Subpar Experience, Decent Stepping Stone

Pros

Some of the people you work with are wonderful. The flexibility of working remotely and other perks were enticing, but they lost their luster. You could be creative when establishing internal processes/external solutions.

Cons

There was a lack of support in training, onboarding, and professional development. There was little direction when trying to find answers. These opportunity areas were called out in meetings, but nothing changed. It felt like the company strategy changed every other week. There was a lack of professionalism on the part of coworkers and leaders. Promotions seem to be based on favoritism or employee retention, not on merit or skill. Zero recognition: deliverables went unnoticed, taking on additional projects had no payoff, work anniversaries/milestones were forgotten.

Leadership is so clueless

Pros

-Some peers are excellent - some genuinely smart and nice people that you get to work with. -Mostly zero-premium health insurance. -Flexible work environment.

Cons

-No industry experience - executive leadership doesn't have industry experience and it shows, which negatively affects the company and business outlook. -Senior leaders and above - a lot of them have created a toxic environment and try to take credit for others' achievements. Problems go completely unaddressed - issues that would have been major infractions at a normal company with proper disciplinary action processes in place. -Leadership - they don’t have a clue what they’re doing. Zero vision, zero strategy. They try to find a golden goose every year to chase after. It’s different every year and they are just throwing spaghetti on a wall. -Death by powerpoint: be prepared to create a lot of pretty slides for no good reason. I've never seen a company so obsessed with turning everything into a powerpoint presentation. They say it's for "alignment," but it's to fill the time and build a facade that the leaders know what's going on. If they spent that time wisely to create a real strategy and execution roadmap, they’d be winning. -Challenge of working here: you will be really challenged in your role, but not in a good way. It’s the kind of challenge you experience when your managers have no clue what they’re doing, so you have to do their job for them and feed them ideas. Most of them don’t know how to execute on anything and they just talk a lot and try to use big words, meanwhile blaming employees for poor execution. They are not fooling any one and the company culture is suffering because people see through this.
