Incredible journey that keeps getting better
Pros
I absolutely love working at CircleCI. There are many factors that go in to that, but for me the main ones are: - Culture. The culture here is extremely strong. I have always described it as one of trust, respect, and empathy. No drama, its just a bunch of people working in concert to get something done. - Co-workers. Every day when I come to work I feel inspired by the amazing people around me. Smart, motivated, dedicated to their craft. When I get to work with a new team or department I am reminded how many incredible people I am surrounded by. - Growth & Opportunity. Growth breeds opportunity, and we have had a ton of both. CircleCI was 35 when I joined, is now around 140, and shows no signs of slowing down. That growth has turned into opportunity which has made the last two years of my career the best in terms of both learning and increase in responsibility. - Executive Management. The entire management team is awesome, and I feel extremely lucky to work for and with them. Smart and dedicated, they continuously work to enable their people rather than control them.
Cons
Its hard for me to find cons, but there are growing pains. Quickly growing out a team, including a lot of remote expansion on the engineering side, is hard. Creating the correct separation of concerns, ownership structure, and communication paradigms takes some work and there are some mis steps. However, it feels like every 3-6 months we have totally new set of problems we are trying to solve, so we are continually making progress.
