Pros

Citi provides great benefits and pay for being an entry-level call center position

Cons

Their technology support is unnecessarily complicated. There are 2 systems to do one job, a new one and a legacy one. If the new one times out (regular issue), use the old one. The catch is, the old one must me loaded in if and only if the new one doesn't work. This process can take about 2 minutes, and you are in trouble with your manager if your average call takes over 5 minutes. This metric, the call handle time, is the only thing management will even talk to you about. Nothing else. Also, the training was not good. We were not given any call examples for us to learn from. Our group was told we were "lucky" to have the time we did have with the trainers, and during our training time, if we asked questions, we were scolded and told we already have the tools. Ridiculous and toxic environment.

Pros

• Good emphasis on gender and ethnic diversity in tech • Very good benefits • People are mostly nice and pretty relaxed • Work is easy • Work-life balance can be great • Compensation is okay

Cons

• Mind-numbing, uninteresting work • Work-life balance can be awful, with long hours and meetings at odd times of night • TONS of internal propaganda • Outdated tech stacks (super old RHEL, Python, Java, etc) • Very difficult to incorporate tech stack updates • Very bad developer environment, typically in resource-starved Windows VDIs or Linux VMs with low-level permissions (have to submit a formal request and wait several days just to get a five year old release of Eclipse) • Never-ending management changes, middle management layoffs, strategy and vision changes, and unclear or extremely superficial goals such as "be the best" • Job is largely integrating and configuring purchased products • Agonizingly slow CI/CD pipeline • Enormous process overhead; tons of engineering/development time lost to process requirements • Engineering is not a priority • You work for a soul-sucking, unethical, exploitative, and bloated financial institution

Pros

Paid Holidays, great staff and coworkers, good benefits. Competitive salary

Cons

Commission is very difficult to make. Very Bad training, while the teachers were great. Not enough time went to training when it came to operations. Upper management seems to care only about numbers and not its people. I work in Manhattan, and while my manager is great and the area director is great, management above that only care for numbers. The job description can "change". Now we have to telemarketer all the time calling clients and trying to get them to come to the branch. If there is no sale opportunity with a client and its just a servicing the expectation is to get them out as soon as possible.
