Pros

Weekly pay. Dress code is nice. Pay is good.

Cons

Management. You are held to standards that they aren’t. The less you make, the more you’re expected to do. Managers vanish all the time. Mostly for personal things. I’ve known them to go to bars, go on dates, and just run personal errands. No one holds them accountable. In the end, the branch is run by the tellers and bankers. Instead of regionals calling the branch to check in, they call branch managers personal phones. It’s easy to pretend you’re at work when no one looks for you there. Instead of thanking the lowly employees with decent pay raises, they throw parties for upper and senior management for awards that should be going to your customer facing employees. The sales goals are unattainable. They do not fall under the S.M.A.R.T guidelines. And changing them constantly is absurd. Customer service is pounded into us via our incentive, and we must hit a certain goal. It’s hard to hit that goal when customer service takes a backseat to sales. If we aren’t making a sale, we are expected to give them a number and send them elsewhere. Too much maintenance is frowned upon.

Clueless

Pros

Benefits - I really have nothing more to say but had to type at least 5 words.

Cons

They're complicated. Because of their sheer size, they lack understanding of how small business that they acquire operate. Everything that used to be simple has become the most overly complex circus of bureaucratic events and nonsense. No issue is ever resolved quickly. And some of our most tenured employees have left the company altogether because they have been driven to insanity.

A Bank acting like a bank

Pros

Great benefits including things like a point store, learning center, cigna health insurance, dental/vision options, infertility insurance, and a considerably decent amount of pto (and all bank holidays off). Some fun company culture events like credo week and credo awards. The projects themselves can be interesting and there are teams across the bank doing so many different things. You have api teams, front end teams, back end teams, full stack teams, database teams and you can find work on mortgage/banking/marketing/etc to really try some new things out.

Cons

There are plenty of opportunities to move around but good luck getting a call back in a timely manner. Many of the internal hire jobs end up changing at the last second to be off-shore contract hires instead which is frustrating when you're in the middle of the interview process. Often times you do not get a cost of living salary increase. You will get about 2%. There are so many compliance audits. It seems like you end one audit just to be thrown another audit on roughly the same things. There are so many teams that there can be a ton of blockers created by having so many silos. Some teams get the requirement of having to make changes immediately while other teams get the benefit of being able to kick the can down the road a bit longer before taking on work. It seems really hard to have upward mobility and the goalposts seem to change from year to year. In my vicinity, I have seen 1 woman get promoted to manager and 0 poc which can be discouraging especially while the company claims diversity as part of their credo.
