Pros

A lot of industry leading experts at the company that you can learn from. The company has the ability to win large projects with some great clients. You’ll get thrown into the fire most likely which will allow you to grow at a quick rate. Admittedly some people have had amazing teams and managers, myself included. The company will allow you to build a great network that will help you in the future.

Cons

The company has adopted a matrix to evaluate employees by position at the company. This sounded like a great idea but has proven the opposite. If you are overachieving, the company will either point to the one area you don’t have experience in to prevent you from getting a raise or promotion (even if you’ve never gotten an opportunity to work on that skill I.e. Aquisition experience). Each division within the company acts as its own company and can either be great or extremely tribal and detrimental to your career. For example, Clark will place you as a new hire in a division within the company. If you don’t like that type of work, you can request to be transferred elsewhere. However, in doing so, you risk alienating yourself from that group and possibly squandering promotional opportunities. i.e. If you are informed you will be invited to PM Boot camp (a pre-requisite to the project manager promotion) and request to be transferred, you could have the invite rescinded, putting you behind a year in your development (PM Bootcamp happens once per year). I have felt at times instead of answering the tough questions about compensation, promotions, and opportunities, managers will plead ignorance and leave employees to elevate issues in their own to senior level management.

Pros

They hire a lot of people. Go to the right school and its easy to get a job right out of college here.

Cons

Long hours. Boys club coworkers. "Old Time Construction" superintendents (AKA angry old white men)

Pros

Friendly people and some good old-fashioned company perks like solid healthcare and a decent 401k match. Other old-fashioned perks include wedding presents, baby showers, birthday cupcakes, free Clark stuff. There are definitely opportunities to advance in certain departments, if you want to put in the facetime and exist to the current Clark “standard.”

Cons

Strict hours and face time requirements that remain indifferent to people's family commitments, health concerns, the actual work product of employees and the changing workplace outside of Clark, yes, even in COVID times. The initial response to Covid was not good, to put it mildly and pushed a message of indifference to employees from management. Pay is not as competitive as it should be for the region. Pockets of bad management exist and drive people out, along with high turnover in general. Management seems to not care and would rather just pay to retrain a new hire. Good people are let go due to overhead costs while poorer employees are maintained.
