Pros

The pros to working at TFS are that: - the therapist are very cordial and pleasant to work with. - the patrons often tend to appreciate front desk assistants. - this is the ideal place to learn to work under pressure because employees are expected to get a significant amount of work done in minimal time. These working conditions mentally and emotionally prepared me for my current job that I love.

Cons

The cons to working at TFS are that : - the "training" process is inadequate. I can't speak for those that hold other position is the office, but I felt I was expected to learn office protocol, software intricacies, and website navigation immediately. This is all while enduring constant interruptions, literally a few minutes, from clients and fellow employees. This possibly contributed to occasional inconsistencies and missing details that make for an ill-equipped trainee. - the office manager, has a strong tendency to micromanage. Even with the most mundane and basic tasks, the office manager had a particular way she wanted them done. - there is no apparent probationary period. Most professional companies give new hires the standard 3 month probationary period to prove himself/herself. Given that the "training" isn't very thorough, this is unfair. - upper management, mainly the office manager and CEO, don't appreciate when the receptionist goes above and beyond the call of duty to assist them or clinic patrons. I personally felt belittled when I tried to solve office issues on my own or if I did a task in a way that i found to be more organized than previous methods. - employees are expected to be supreme when it comes to multitasking. In my opinion, there is an unrealistic expectation to get full-time work properly done in part-time hours. I myself worked part-time and was still expected to fulfill all job duties. If this is the case, the pay should be increased. I wondered what additional responsibilities I would have to take on if I was offered full-time.

Pros

It gives you good experience working in the social service field. You have the potential to make really good money.

Cons

The money is only good when you have a full caseload. This is not a job that I would recommend for anyone who has a family. You have to work non-traditional hours and sometimes very long days.
