Pros

many locations a crossed the US

Cons

-Little to no raises (5 years with no raise and after 5 years only received a $1 raise) regional managers using the motto "Hire the worst, pay the least" -Low base pay for many jobs especially Field Service positions, $13 - $15 an hour in New York forcing you to work 12 to 16 hour shifts of heavy manual labor to make a living wage. -Average weekly hours for Field Service position 60-80 hours a week on call 24hr a day. -Taking time off is penalized by receiving less hours when you return from vacation and hazed for taking time off in Field Services jobs. -Focusing on hiring young little to no experienced employees and no support for long term employees. -Many long term employees 7+ years leaving Clean Harbors for other far better paying companies. -Ripping off many customers with shady business practices, example (use 1 bag and charge for the full price of the bulk roll) -New hire employees with no experience being used as Forman for emergency spill responses.

Pros

The number one benefit i have seen tgis company do is carry over employees seniority and vacation time when they buy other companies out. Most of the the guys I worked with that were bought out have bragged about this but only one of those guys remain:/ I hired in but thought that was pretty cool. 1. Checks don't bounce 2. If you have no experience in driving- great company to get your experience and move on. 3. If know one else will hire you, this is probably a good fit for you. 4. Do your homework talk to employees where ever you are thinking about going this will give you the true insight on how that company operates. I just found two great companies this way.

Cons

To be fair it should be a 2.5 but with all the fake 5 stars I had to equal it out. Do your self a favor and stop a Clean Harbors or Safety-Kleen employee on the road and ask them personally what they think about the company. Most qualified workers in the industry already know and this is why they work at other companies. 1. The company has demonstrated thier respect level for the employees by taking away what they call, perks like 401k & the changing medical coverage when it suits there selfish needs. 2. Company executives constantly re-confirm that these are perks and are at the companies discretion. Believe me, all the employees here know that if you could get away with out paying it you would. 3. The only reason they had brought up the good will nature of the company to give half our retirement back is because they cannot keep employees to save their lives. 4. Luckily we have some laws that protect the employees in California like vacation carry over. All the employees in the other states have a use it or lose it policy because this suits the company when you have over 10 thousand employees is half mis-manage thier time and lose a couple days each adds of for the company. 5. Part of our benifit package is also pursuant with the employee engagement to get a 600 dollar discount which I was confided in by there own Hr that half of the employees are inable to get done because they work so many hours they do not have the time to sit behind a desk and play the silly games lying about eating right, drinking sugarless drinks, working out and so on. 600 times 5000 eqauls several million dollars. Great way to save money guys! Shows your respect for the people that work hard to make the company successful. 6. If they buy your company out yoy will slowly lose all your perks and become a number that will be worked into the ground to hit your your numbers but wait safety first. 7. Since the company does not attract the cream of the crop per say we ger stuck with under qualified unmotivated workers that the company trys to mold. Unfortunately, this has reflected on our Federsl Motor Carrier score 8. Our score is so bad they moved most of the transport drivers to thier other company Safety-Kleen and my cousin works there and he says that it is very much the same there now, they are having major issues holding on to good talent and the only thing that somewhat holds them together is a better management team which will change. The good people will leave and they will be left with what we have. I did hear that now Safety-Kleen has a horrible Federal Motor Carrier score and is under the scrutiny of DOT because we shuffled our bad drivers under their DOT name. I bet it has more to do with the qaulity of drivers they are now hiring. This happend to our organization.
