Great opportunities at hyper growth company

Pros

I was one of the first 50 employees at Clear Street and while other start ups seem to struggle to navigate growth when scaling the organization, Clear Street has managed to do so quite well.

Cons

Clear Street is not for you if you like to stay within the boundaries of your specialization. Engineers are occasionally required to act as product managers and/or support staff, operations staff frequently use developer tools to understand the state of our system. The organization demands flexibility to become a generalist.

Pros

- work with some of the best minds to bridge the gap of finance and tech - best idea often wins, challenge "this is how it has always been done" mentality - carve out a career path - gain visibility to different parts of the business and leaders of different teams

Cons

- you must be a self starter, invest in yourself - not every situation has a playbook, need to be able to navigate unchartered waters

Enormous Opportunity Lies Ahead for the Daring

Pros

The business has a very compelling product in a highly fragmented industry. Lots of opportunity to grow the firm which means a lot of opportunity for people to make their careers here. Very smart, motivated people across the board. Complicated technology problems to solve with a modern approach and virtually no tech debt.

Cons

Typical growth company story. Lots of opportunities and growth pathways and naturally not everyone prioritizes the same possibilities in the same way. Sometimes the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. If you work here, you have to be a person who can tolerate ambiguity and take ownership to identify problems and solve them. Nobody is stopping anyone from doing the right thing here.
