I love teaching, and the students at CSU are great.

Cons

Adjuncts make up ~ 70% of college professors in the U.S., and are paid atrociously. CSU pays badly, worse than the local community college (Tri-C). At CSU, the pay for adjuncts is $3,000 per 3 credit course with no benefits compensation besides the mandatory employer contribution to STRS (based on salary). Meanwhile, tenured full-time professors can get away with anything including loads of student complaints and investigations, and still keep their jobs.

It is clear the research environment at CSU is on an upward trend. New investments in facilities and recent grand awards show promise for high quality research in the future.

Cons

The administration is an absolute nightmare. You never get paid on time and their turnover is incredibly high. No one in the purchasing departments or payroll work on campus and are unresponsive.
