Thank you for taking the time to share your reflections. It is great to hear that you found the culture, training and focus on diversity and inclusion so positive, and that you enjoyed working on such a well loved brand. Feedback like this from someone with your experience really matters. We also appreciate your honesty about the challenges. Balancing careful decision making with the fast pace of delivery can be difficult, and we recognise that budget pressures can sometimes make it harder to explore new ideas. Your point about listening to colleagues is important too, and it is something we continue to focus on to make sure voices across the organisation are heard. Thank you again for your thoughtful review and for the contribution you made during your time with us.

Pros

Plenty of work available Friendly colleagues Staff discount Opportunities for career progression are available to most Easy to transfer to other stores if wanted Culture is generally inclusive and community-oriented

Cons

Early starts and late finishes Floating rota makes it difficult to plan your life outside of work Pressure to work more hours than you may want, and to cover shifts with no notice Quality of management can be mixed, and there tends to be a fast turnover. Some colleagues seem to get away with doing nothing while others are expected to do everything. Dealing with rude customers can be stressful, Colleagues can be cliquey (particularly the longer they have worked there) but it depends on the store you work at. I think sometimes they resent younger colleagues who don't want to build a career at Co-op,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your review. We’re pleased to hear you found plenty of work available, felt supported by friendly colleagues, and appreciated the colleague member discount, progression opportunities and inclusive culture across our stores. We also appreciate your reflections on some of the challenges you experienced. As a convenience retailer, our opening hours are designed to meet the needs of the communities we serve, and this naturally means a mix of early starts and late finishes. These shift patterns can be a core part of the role and are clearly communicated during recruitment from advert to interview. Rotas are produced at least three weeks in advance to give colleagues visibility of upcoming shifts and the opportunity to review and plan their time accordingly, and we’re always looking at ways to support better balance where we can. Your comments about teamwork, fairness and the importance of visible leadership are valuable, and we take them seriously. No colleague should feel unsupported, and effective collaboration is essential in delivering great service to our customers. We’ll ensure your feedback is shared with the relevant teams so we can continue improving the experience for both colleagues and customers. Thank you again for your contribution during your time with us, and we wish you all the best in your future career.

Thank you for sharing your experience and for highlighting the positives, including the support from your team and management. It’s great to hear you’re finding a good balance in your role. We appreciate the detailed suggestions you’ve provided around staffing and task prioritisation. While we can pass these on to the relevant teams, these kinds of insights are valuable and best raised through your manager or our internal feedback channels, where they can be considered alongside operational requirements and safety standards. Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts.
