Pros

Very rewarding job, great team to work with, manager is very clear and direct. Trying to give families what they need and want.

Cons

sometimes feel very senior management are not quite understanding grief. Pay isn't fantastic for what we see and do...being around grief everyday is hard.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review. Our funeralcare teams do amazing work supporting our customers in what can be one of the most difficult times of their lives. We're pleased to see that you find the role rewarding and that you and your team are providing the care and support your customers need. I will share your feedback on to the relevant teams, but please share your concerns with your manager, or through the various internal feedback channels such as Talkback or through your local colleague voice representative to make sure your views are heard locally.

Pros

Honestly there isn't much that sticks out to me thats good anymore but its heavily dependent on which store you work in. Pre covid things were pretty good for the most part, it was a nice place to work overall.

Cons

Increasing workload whilst store hours are being taken away. Every new tool or way of doing things that was supposed to make our lives easier and help us get more done comes with cut hours and then dosn't work anyway. Less staff on shift on average leading to concerns about safety in store. Shop lifting and disorder continues to get worse. No support from head office and if you find yourself in the middle of an incident get ready to be investigated for it and potentially disciplined. Health and safety in stores due to poor maintenance and just generally being in unsuitable locations constantly overlooked and ignored. You feel pressured to engage in unsafe work to meet expectations. Cliquey management at the local and regional levels. Poor pay for the work load. Team leaders in particular are being taken for a ride since the Team Manager role was axed. Customer Team Members work load has also increased without a decent rise in pay. Stress, stress and more stress.

Pros

Good set of people on the floor and good pay

Cons

Use to love coming to work but most of the good managers have left or are leaving. Other managers get bullied by other managers if they try to support you and some manager act like they are police with one who always shouts that he needs a body cam and hides behind pallets to spy on you or waits outside the toilet timing you waiting for you to come out

Thank you for sharing your experience and for your long service with Co-op. We’re pleased to hear you value your colleagues and the pay, but we’re concerned by the issues you’ve raised about management behaviour. We want all colleagues to feel respected and supported at work. Bullying or harassment is never acceptable, and we encourage anyone who experiences or witnesses this to raise it with their line manager, our People Team, or call our free, confidential helpline on 0800 640 9088 so we can act quickly. It’s good to hear you now have a supportive team manager, but no one should feel targeted or stressed by others. We’re committed to creating a positive and inclusive culture, and feedback like yours helps us understand where we need to improve. If you’d like to share more details, please reach out to your manager or our People Team so we can look into this further.
