Pros

The children do give me some good anecdotes to tell my friends, who think I’m lying because it’s literally so ridiculous this this type of behaviour happens.

Cons

Stop promoting self-indulgent back stabbing idiots to managers without an interview, this only fuels their uncalled for egos and I think it’s against the law, I maybe wrong but I thought a job had to be advertised? With the exception of the three individuals who transferred from Glasgow the remainder of the management team resemble a teen comedy who only care about playing favourites, hitting the pub after work and discussing the current hot topic, Weddings! They have been overheard openly gossiping and bullying other members of staff and plotting people’s demise. It’s petulant, immature and shows how classless you are. People are approached fresh from uni and told about the bright new future that CoStar can offer? Stop, I beg you. Stop allowing educated individuals to waste their time.

Thank you for your feedback and your time for writing a review. We use these reviews as part of our ongoing efforts to improve the training and increase the performance of our managers. At CoStar, we take development very seriously and managers are supplied with training to equip them to carry out their roles as expected. They are accountable for practising the behaviours we have taught and using the resources that we provide to help. It is their job to ensure best practices are maintained. However, while we have a high performance culture, we also have a very inclusive and social work environment where we want our employees to bring themselves fully to work and share important life events such as getting married. We feel this is an important part of building a positive CoStar culture. If you have specific feedback you would like to share, please reach out and email HR separately. We aim to uphold the performance of our research management team and we are pleased to hear that our more experienced managers have made a good impression!

Pros

Salary is paid well but it’s a trap.

Cons

CoStar Group is one of the most toxic and demoralising workplaces I’ve ever encountered. The culture is controlling, outdated, and completely unsupportive. It feels like being trapped in a strict school, not a professional workplace. You’re monitored constantly, micromanaged to the extreme, and forced to hit unrealistic KPIs that change on a whim. There’s no transparency, no consistency—just pressure. What makes it worse is the complete lack of job security. People are fired without warning, no performance reviews, no opportunities to improve—just one day you’re gone. Management thrives on fear and uses it as a tactic to control staff. It’s a high-stress, high-turnover environment for a reason. The lack of diversity is glaring. Leadership is overwhelmingly homogenous, and there’s clearly a glass ceiling for ethnic minorities. Opportunities for advancement are few and far between unless you fit a certain mould. Inclusion feels like a checkbox exercise, not something the company genuinely cares about. If you’re a person of colour or from a minority background, don’t expect the same recognition or progression as your peers. Overall, CoStar may look polished from the outside, but behind closed doors, it’s a toxic, rigid, and exclusionary workplace that drains your energy and offers no real future. Avoid at all costs if you value your mental wellbeing, professional growth, or being treated with basic human respect.
