Pros

Unlimited PTO is not so unlimited. I don't want to generalize but you might get lucky to get placed on a project where you would learn and grow

Cons

Get ready to have the door slammed on your face. oh, also, the outplacement support Coalfire offers to former employees is smokes. I am writing this from a personal experience. Your position will be slashed, you will be replaced with no prior warning. Coalfire will offer former employees an outplacement support that does not exist. Such a shame that they would do that.

A Complete mess

Pros

- Great co-workers - Large (and sometimes fun) clients - Freedom to customize and tailor your work

Cons

- Employees keep leaving, no one is being re-hired. Morale is low, and people are overworked to fill the gap. - Easily over half of the company is Director level or above, there's no one left to actually do the work - Pay is lower than average, you are expected to perform duties above your pay grade - Executive management is clueless, constant re-orgs and promises delivered that are never filled - Our director took FOUR two week vacations in less than 6 months. Clients were dropped, and no one took the blame.

Pros

The only pro is remote work. It is a good stepping stone.

Cons

We all know job security is hard to come by these days, but Coalfire takes that instability to another level. This is not an environment that supports beginners—training is minimal, and you’re largely expected to figure things out on your own. It’s a true trial-by-fire experience. Management often blurs the line between being supportive and being overly harsh. Morale is low, and leadership doesn’t do much to uplift it. I once reached out to an executive after a DEI workshop to share how impactful I found his message—he didn’t even acknowledge the message. That interaction summed up the culture well: very top-down, impersonal, and disconnected. Employees often feel like just another number, expected to keep their heads down and push through the workload. To make matters worse, PIPs are frequently used as intimidation tactics, which only adds to the fear-based atmosphere.
