Pros

*Flexible time off (if you can actually use it) *High upward mobility due to the number of people leaving *Work from home *Work with some really good people

Cons

Coalfire is going the wrong way. The VP level and above is in it to line their own pockets. It’s a good ole’ boys network at the time that rewards scheming, politicking, and manipulation. When the company was acquired by APAX, the folks in the CEO’s “club” were rewarded much better than a lot of others that were there from the beginning. True disgrace and opposite of the way the original founders would have run the company. Today the company continues to struggle with high turnover. Most impactful is all the good VP level employees are gone....dozens of them. The writing is on the wall, which is why I’ve started looking myself. I have no idea what Apax was thinking as the internal mandate from the top is to run the workforce at an insane pace to meet Apax’s expectations. It’s only going to continue to get worse with COVID, high bill rates, and a culture that continues to decline. It’s a shame to see this place fall apart the way it has.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are proud that many of the industry’s best and brightest cybersecurity professions are part of our team, and that there are opportunities for career advancement. We consistently hear these are two of the biggest reasons people stay at Coalfire when gathering feedback from new hires and tenured employees. With our new investors, we had a great opportunity to roll out a corporate-wide program to allow Coalfire employees to benefit directly from business performance that drives an increase in Coalfire’s value. We are extremely confident in our leaders and their ability to help us execute our long-term organizational goals – and, more importantly, our clients’ goals. In the competitive cybersecurity market, retaining our talent is a top priority as we grow and evolve, and we are committed to keeping employees engaged and challenged. We are disappointed to hear you feel these changes have negatively impacted our culture. We’d love to discuss your concerns in more detail, as we take feedback very seriously. We encourage you to reach out to your Human Resources Business Partner so we can learn more.

Pros

There are some great people to work with at Coalfire.

Cons

There are many to list. First, senior leadership is completely tone deaf to the people that actually do the work. They always always prioritize sales over actually getting the work done. The "solutions" they push as a claimed effort to "increase efficiency" and "make everyone's jobs easier" make the job incredibly more difficult for multiple reasons including increased complexity and customer complaints/demands. There are many many cases of people deserving of a promotion being passed over for the company to bring in an outside hire who knows nothing about the work done in the department or the way Coalfire operates. There have been so many new hires coming in, and so little training performed that quality of work has significantly decreased. And no one is held accountable when they are being negligent, lazy, or just plain uninterested, so the work always falls to the project leads to get done (or just doesnt get done at all), which makes these team members completely overworked, over tired, and feeling disrespected. In addition, the old boys club of senior leadership doesnt appear to really care about the problems below them. Constant changes to the company so little focus on actually fixing the problems that are very serious below them has left many unhappy in their positions. On top of that, a D&I council was formed seemingly to increase diversity within the company, but clearly something was not executed properly because that team wasnt given any power to make change, and as a result, nothing changed, and the old boys club continued.

LGBTQ+ Community feels alone and afraid

Pros

- Great people to work with, the daily culture is typically a joy to be around most people are happy-go-lucky, love their work and happy to be here! - multiple locations to work from - used to a ton of ways to get involved with the company and community (pre-covid) -(pre-covid) some great perks, great work spaces etc.

Cons

- Lgbtq+ community is terrified in some cases to come out at work for fear of retribution, being treated differently or simply being given the "third degree". - Executive leadership feels that because they have "empowered" employees with slack groups and the ability to make and have meetings among ourselves that this somehow absolves them of actually driving real change and acceptance with any and all real diversity. - Sexual assault in the work place has happened - Leadership seems to be the ones in most need of diversity training - Covid seems to have given Coalfire the go ahead to burn people out, maximize profit and forget about the people's welfare.
