Pros

I got a lot of great Cybersecurity experience at Coalfire. Met a lot of cool people and had great opportunities to grow.

Cons

New owners, new management. Major budget cuts plus cronyist organizational politics. Pay isn't the best

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We’re glad you found your time at Coalfire valuable. We strive to provide an environment where everyone can learn new skills, advance their careers, and take advantage of exciting opportunities. Over the last couple of years, we have seen some new managers join the Coalfire team – both through internal promotions and external hires. As we continue to explore new service offerings and find ways to grow our business, we are excited to expand our teams with individuals who bring a wealth of experience and the right expertise. We are also excited to see how our partnership with our new investors continues to grow. However, our people have always been, and will remain, our biggest priority. While we must sometimes make hard decisions as a business, we consider the impact on our employees every step of the way and do what we can to ensure they feel heard, supported, and valued. We have not wavered in this commitment to our employees, even as we navigate the challenges of COVID-19.

Pros

Great culture for most of the the teams. Lots of opportunities to get involved and to be a part of the growth in the company. Management tries very hard to be transparent and to support our work-life balance. Lots of communication avenues for learning about things in the company.

Cons

Only concern is the hiring for diversity, this needs to be addressed with regard to people over 40. There is a lot of experience to be considered in people over 40. I think they are trying to be more transparent with hiring women, but age diversity is something they need to consider taking a better look at. Management should consider getting a new provider for the dental benefits longer term

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Coalfire is committed to supporting a culture of inclusion and belonging, and we welcome candidates with diverse backgrounds in all respects – race, gender, age, experience, background, etc. We seek out job boards that specifically target populations that are underrepresented in cybersecurity and partner with groups like WiCyS (Women in Cybersecurity) and Skillbridge, a program designed to help veterans transitioning into the civilian workforce. We regularly look at demographic data to help drive our Diversity and Inclusion initiatives, and we have found the generational mix at Coalfire is well-distributed across a wide range of ages. However, we recognize there is always room for improvement. We greatly appreciate your willingness to share your feedback and have shared it with our employee-led Diversity and Inclusion Council, as well as our recruiting team. We will continue to seek out new avenues to find talented and diverse cybersecurity professionals in all respects, including age.

Still holds the title as one of the worst jobs I ever had

Pros

Peace and quiet of my own office

Cons

Isolation of my own office. Most departments on the Veris Group side were one-employee deep (finance, contracts, proposals etc), so everyone was burned out. Most were directors in name only. Only job I ever had where that title meant nothing. You’re not a director if you’re not directing anything. Lots of big attitudes and big personalities. Only job I ever had where my doctor considered placing me on blood pressure tablets.
