Pros

The best part of working here is seeing the difference we're able to make. The organization has truly transformed education with our mission. One of the things I most appreciate is that our mission and our actions are not just about promoting our own work and products, but also about elevating computer science education broadly. We promote our partners and work with others in computer science education to change the education system. Our leadership stays focused on what's best for students and teachers.

Cons

We sometimes operate like a nonprofit and sometimes like a tech start up, which can cause some tension as we grow.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! We wholeheartedly agree – what makes Code.org hum is our mission and our impact. Our students and teachers are our North Star and what unites our passionate team. We are also happy to report that we’re working through scaling our support structures to ease growing pains. Three recent investments include: - Manager training - we have enlisted expert support in rolling out manager training for the next year. This training ensures our managers have the tools to support and nurture teams daily. - Inclusion training - We are dedicated to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive environment as we grow. Our upcoming retreat will feature a special training designed to empower our team with strategies and confidence in navigating a diverse range of situations. - Expansion of our People & Culture team - we are thrilled to welcome a new Senior Business Partner to our team later this month. This role is pivotal to providing everyone support. If you need help, please come chat with us. Consider joining our office hours, send us an email, or fill out our new support form. We are here for you!

Pros

Responsive and approachable leadership. Competitive pay. Counts toward PSLF program as a non-profit. Great mission. Organizational principles empower employees!

Cons

Some employees feel that political issues should be part of the Org's work which detracts from the mission/vision occasionally. However, leadership does a good job with redirecting this.

We are incredibly proud to read your review! A lot has changed over the past year. Your observations and insights affirm that our efforts to evolve and strengthen our culture are working. We continue to devote a lot of time, love, and effort into acting on the team’s very helpful feedback. We appreciate your feedback on organizational focus. Our plan is to further evolve the annual planning process introduced last year to better align us on goals and priorities. The hope is that this process makes planning more predictable, less stressful, and it will be more effective in focusing our efforts over time. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. If you have further feedback or ideas on how Code.org can be its best, please come chat with us!

Pros

Great nonprofit and a mission.

Cons

Some of. their leadership staff are extremely arrogant and have no real skills in communicating with colleagues. This affects work and morale.
