Pros

Employees are respected. Diverse client base. Appropriate engineering tools and references are provided. Professional development is a priority. Feels like we are all on the same team.

Cons

Typical consultant downsides are that project deadlines are merciless and clients let theirs schedules drag so sometimes you spend long hours at the office. Coffman allows comp time and overtime pay so that you can take time off or get compensated for extra hours worked.

Our clients do create emergencies due to their lack of planning. It is a tough reality in a service industry that we have to be flexible. But when lack of planning crosses over into outright disrespect, we should move on. Per your advice we are looking forward and in reverse at the same time. Trying to make sure we don't diverge from the road that has made us successful. Thanks for being so loyal for 10 years. Each decade should be something you are proud of. Let's go for another one. Good Culture

Pros

The company has good culture. People are usually great to work with. Pay is decent and breakfast on Fridays:).

Cons

Feel as if the company may be growing too fast and is starting to lose its culture.

I reflect on your cultural concern often. We are growing quickly and I worry about the culture. Can we maintain? The reason that I am super hopeful about the continuation of our culture is that we are decentralized. I know that sounds counter-intuitive to a cohesive culture, but centralization means hierarchy, and hierarchy means less autonomy. Less autonomy means more management from afar. Management from afar is disconnected and doesn't even know how it is affecting the culture. So I encourage you to be a change agent in your local office and make the stated culture a continued reality. You are more the master of this destiny than you may think. And... if you sense a cultural slide, would you please contact me? Give us a chance to correct. Much appreciated. Dave Ruff - President

Pros

A company that really cares about their staff, which includes being competitive so that they can afford to be generous with benefits to staff. I really like showing up to work each morning!

Cons

Not much... There is a lot of pressure to succeed, which is appropriate.

Growing smart... great point. We are currently engaged in strategic planning. We have always been an opportunistic company, but to your point, we have to grow smart which requires strategy. We will never lose our sense of opportunity, but opportunities must be evaluated in the context of the overall plan (which includes a healthy culture). Thanks for your feedback. Dave Ruff - President
