Pros

-Interesting projects. -Aside from some of the upper management, the rest of the staff was awesome. -My experience at this company made me realize how good I had it at my previous firm, grateful I was able to go back.

Cons

-Minimum budgets for projects means I either worked for free or worked on overhead which ultimately reduces my billable rate. In my case, overhead was "lab training." -I voiced concerns multiple times about project management on specific projects, but it fell on deaf ears; profit before the employees. Too big to fail mentality...

I am so sorry to hear that your experience was not a positive one. We are attempting to continuously improve our transparency, project management, and leadership. We certainly don't have the attitude that we are too big to fail. At the same time, we have the benefit of not walking a razor's edge where everyone lives in fear. Coffman Engineers is not perfect, but we are always improving. I wish you every success in your future endeavors. Dave Ruff - President

Pros

Good people, and the option to work extra hours and log as comp time or overtime is a big plus.

Cons

Healthcare coverage could be better as well as overall compensation. Moving up in this corporation will most likely take a long time.

We are being as progressive as we can on the healthcare front. It has been painful for everyone in the country. Finally, this year we experienced a premium reduction. We will continue to work aggressively on this challenging problem. Regarding the here and now, it is the tendency of corporations to focus on growth goals and performance metrics. But we are committed to focus the overall health of our company and are convinced that growth and performance will be natural outcomes of improved health. To this end, a couple of our largest offices have formed employee groups that are specifically focused on improving the "right now" of how we operate. We are already experiencing positive outcomes. Let me know if there is anything specific you think we should be doing differently. I would appreciate more input. Dave Ruff - President

Pros

Team work and communication are emphasized from the top down. Diverse projects to work on and sharp people to work with from engineers to designers to admin.

Cons

Some long hours from time to time but that's typical at a consulting firm.

We are really focused on team work all the way through our organization, so I am glad you have experienced the emphasis. This is an effort within the offices and between the offices. I think we have struck a good balance between office autonomy and inter-office cooperation. The lack of internal competition is one of the things that makes Coffman a fun place to work. We are doing our best to enjoy each other instead of trying to out-do each other. We will continue this focus. Thanks for your comments. Dave Ruff - President
