Good scenery and good meetings that one can attend for free as a student

Cons

Students are treated much worse than even menial workers at CSHL. It is a great place to be a PI, but a really bad place to be a student. Very poor environment for learning scientists.

It is one of the most prestigious scientific communities that any scientist can be part of in their careers. The resources available and the the collaborations between different laboratories and fields allows for great science to be done.

Cons

is very isolated from NYC. The turnaround is very slow.
