Pros

The benefits are good. Solid time off policy and the ability to work from home on a flexible schedule.

Cons

Over time, management has become obsessed with keeping broken processes broken. It’s been outright stated by management that these processes being unworkable makes them feel secure in their jobs, which goes on to mean that things only get worse as new problems arise but old ones are never addressed. Working at a non-management level means you will be dealing with increasingly complex issues that are easily avoided if resources were allocated to problem solving instead of triage.

We couldn’t agree more that having processes and systems work efficiently is a critical part of making people successful at work. We have teams dedicated to providing our teams with the tools, training, and resources they need to thrive – and are constantly exploring what larger improvements, like Agile, we can make as an organization. If you would like to provide additional feedback on where we can improve, please reach out to me at kdsouza@collegeboard.org -- Karl D'Souza

High pay, low job satisfaction

Pros

They pay is competitive and the benefits are great. The NY office has a nice view and good coffee.

Cons

There is little to no respect for experience. There is little to no support given for huge projects. Leadership is either hands off, or negative and demeaning. There are no leaders that I encountered that empowered their employees. In fact, the opposite would occur. Respected values seemed to all be negative in nature (throwing people under the bus, disrespecting others, superficial assets, etc.) The energy at the College Board is on of "dog-eat-dog" - don't be enticed by the money, it's not worth it.

We appreciate your feedback. Respectful teamwork is a hallmark of our employees; we also expect that managers and leaders focus on enabling their teams to do their best work and inspiring great work by their teams. We hope all employees provide constructive input as opposed to negative feedback, that employees are engaged in their work and have no tolerance for disrespect in our organization. --Holly Strychowski
