Excellent Culture & Supportive Management Team

Pros

Excellent work culture and supportive management team. I started out as junior level Accountant and got promoted to low-senior Financial reporting accounting position. The global finance team management is a group of hard-working guys. However, out of their busy schedule, they would set aside time to chat with you in the hallway or at the coffee area. They value employee and recognize achievement. They value effort and quality. Most importantly, they are willing to share information and train you. It's an open door policy and that makes them a great team working hand-in-hand to achieve common goal.

Cons

The year-end closing is a long 1.5 month process which includes, month-end closing, year-end closing, consolidation, year-end audit, quarter-end reporting, and year-end notes & disclosure. It can be tiresome at times, but working with a great team makes these work seem more tolerable.

Lost all Vacation

Pros

It is a job, benefits okay but on the expensive side. They match 401k, my old company did not.

Cons

Vacation not paid when you leave...Colliers had taken over my last company and accrued in 3 weeks of my time. Decided Colliers was not for me and found new employment without realizing you would not get paid out for your time. I have not taken a vacation for a while, and now it will be a while with the new company before I can.

Pros

Colliers International is a great company with great people. They value their employees and take good care of their clients -- at the corporate office.

Cons

Locally, offices don't adhere to corporate standards; the old school way is still the way. Very few females, and no minorities represented. Poor benefits, especially for staff (non-brokers). Agents treat staff with little to no respect and although management is aware of it, they are never talked to because they are the "money makers". No room to move up, unless you're a broker.
