Pros

Work/life balance, great collaborative team, benefits, product discounts.

Cons

Unable to feel like I can be my authentic self, ideating not heard or actioned, no room for growth. No role clarity in a matrix so no one knows who to go for for what. A suite of new Nike execs have brought a toxic political culture over with Nike budget expectations far from realistic Columbia budgets, and a Nike steamroll attitude, not taking time to understand team impacts and unrealistic expectations. Bullies getting promoted in marketing for playing good politics has killed team morale, while seeing hard workers aren’t rewarded, has created a culture to do bare minimum and only what’s told. Columbia product cuts corners and will trail 18 -24 months behind trend leaders, tough to create cool out of old dad brand product.

The worst team I’ve ever worked with

Pros

Work life balance is decent, food is good, bar on campus.

Cons

Contractors and temporary workers are not treated well. Disorganized when it comes to training, thinks that new hires are basically incompetent. I did things that were so outside of the job description provided, it was like I was working a job that was totally different than what I signed up for. Even though I was contracted to be here for some time, I was NEVER included in team huddles, even when I had something to contribute. The place is like a college cafeteria. Retail workers (although this is not where I worked) are literally thought of as dispensable cattle that comes and goes — so the retail workers posting reviews here are completely correct.

OK place to work

Pros

Generally good work life balance (depending on the manager/role). Decent insurance plan and PTO.

Cons

Despite constant budget cutting (which goes straight to executives) and constant record profits, pay is below average to the industry. There’s no maternity/paternity leave, no employee stock purchase plan. Upward mobility in the company is extremely limited.
