Pros

Compensation is good when compared to other companies in the area. It is bait.

Cons

The company is a mess because there is no need for it to maintain any sort of efficiency. ComEd senior execs maintain a spoils sytem in the work place, waste money like crazy, make bad decisions, and then go to the government and ask them to hike rates on consumers. The corportate offices in the South Loop are horrible. Employees are miserable, driven crazy by incompetent leadership. I started looking for a new job three weeks after I started here.

Pros

Projects are fun and opportunities are plentiful. Most of the people that work here are very nice and willing to help. As a project manager you are overworked and overscoped, this is a benefit because you are forced to learn so much and grow tremendously quickly.

Cons

As I mentioned in the benefits, we are tremendously overworked and overscoped. The project managers at this company are a catch all role and are responsible for every facet of the project. Internal teams non responsive and putting the project at risk? Then it's the project managers fault and they are liable for the success. It seems like there is no accountability for everyone that is not a project manager or their managers because there are literally dozens of reports tied back to the project manager. The day to day is not how well you can do at your project, instead, its how many reports can you stay off of. The other con is that the company prides itself on having core hours and a flexible work schedule, but that has turned the company in to working 24/7. It's extremely common to see teams working saturday/sunday and seeing emails fly at all hours of the night.
