Pros

Flexible working conditions. Can be good but inconsistent income. Fabulous products and claims paid. Upper management, I believe, is dedicated to Mr. Stone's original philosophy.

Cons

Territory managers are very inconsistent in following through with an agent who has been working beyond the 3rd or 4th month. Extremely mis-managed assignments causing not only lost sales opportunity but great confusion for our clients.

Pros

You get a nice book in sales school which is a good read, and they pay for your breakfast in sales school.

Cons

While the training is "Sales school" is very detailed, it's only 1-week now. (Used to be 2-weeks and VERY thorough). Since you don't learn everything in sales school, the majority of your real training lies with your Territory Manager. Which can be hit or miss. If you get a TM who has been in the industry a long time and knows the pitfalls, you might have a snowballs chance in Heck! However, I was saddled with a TM who has never managed people before. Almost every policy I wrote in my 1st two weeks has been cancelled, so I'm getting chargebacks on them. Yes, Sales is hard. (I'm sure HR will reply to me as that's the reason for my discontent) However, when you ask for help or advice on how to become better, they just tell you to "Have more activity, see more people!" I'm sorry...Mules work HARD....Thoroughbreds work SMART! I'm not a MULE! If you can't be better by being smarter....then you're just a drone for them. There are very FEW exceptions to the rule, and those 'exceptions' are paraded around like they are God's Gift to Insurance Sales. What they don't tell you is that the company makes more money by having you burnout and fail, then if you stay and succeed. All while you're supposed to have PMA when current customers are complaining to you for calling them again and again. Don't be fooled by the "Free Leads" This is the ONLY company I've ever heard using their own current customer as an "Active" lead. (Especially when these people are being called once every 3 months so they can "Review your policy:) I once had a customer tell me I was the 3rd person from Combined to visit her in the last 3 months. No wonder she looked at me like I'm a fool. If you love working hard, love sales, and love the insurance game, this is still NOT the job for you. Any review listed here with comments in the "Cons" section are 100% accurate. (Especially about TM stealing accounts and writing illegal policies) If W. Clemment Stone could see some of the practices used today by field management, he would be outraged. (Especially when they use his name as a defense) Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere, there are much BETTER opportunities out there, and you deserve better for yourself.
