Not Sure if Comcast Cares

Pros

Discounted cable, bonus potential, 401(k) match, benefits, good coworkers, free coffee and other beverages. They do support community service. An unforgettable experience.

Cons

The management practices are outdated. Many managers only have cable experience which limits their ability to think outside the box. Micromanagement and favoritism are obvious and widespread. They would rather constantly fix an ongoing problem than determine the source and solve it. You will be punished for asking questions or presenting a different viewpoint. Local management cannot make decisions without the approval of the Corporate Office. Human Resources will not support the employee and will quickly place you on an impossible performance improvement plan. They want you to fail. They say “Comcast Cares”, but they do not care about their customers or employees. Subscribers are dropping them at an increasing rate. Their reputation in the community is poor due to high prices and inadequate customer support. Employees resign regularly for better positions with more modern employers. If you are sick, they demand that you work at home. You have to work the day after Christmas and Thanksgiving. They begrudgingly give you a comp day later. Overtime is excessive and not appreciated. You have to take your laptop home every day. No one would steal their laptops because they are outdated and slow. Salaried employees are treated like hourly workers. It is difficult to take time off for doctor appointments. The locations of their offices are in less than desirable office parks. They do maintain their offices, but they are in the low rent areas.

Pros

Good benefits, free cable if you live in a Comcast serviced area.

Cons

Have watched company change from where concern for the employee was paramount to you are now simply a metric. Some managers are kept on board entirely too long and have literally sabotaged careers of those reporting to them. Used to be a GREAT place to work years ago but recent reorganization eliminated some incredibly talented people who deserved to be retained. Company offers an annual employee feedback survey, but it fails to dig in deep regarding feedback on your immediate superior (i.e., sales manager). Many of my colleagues don't complete the survey for fear of retaliation and others feel the feedback falls on deaf ears. I've worked for some great managers over my professional career and I know the damage I bad one can do to an organization. Given the lack of accountability some sales manager have, they can remain on board for years. The comments from others in other divisions reflect similar issues to the division I work out of so the feedback can't be totally fictitious (favoritism, untruths told, politics....etc..) .

Supervisors are great in this office they got your back as long as you don’t do anything stupid. A few Supervisor do there best to keep morale high sometimes at the cost of there own time and money. Some Benefits are; -2 Weeks Paid Vacation (after 90 days) -3 Weeks after 5 years -4 Weeks after 10 Years -2 Personal Days (more with time) -60 Hours Flex Time (Yearly Payout of unused items) -Quarterly Bonuses (after training) -Paid Holidays and 2.5X if you work on that holiday -401K (Matched to 6% in 2018) (Roth/Traditional) -Stock Options at an employee rate -Health Insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield) -Dental and Vision Insurance -Life, Short Term and Long Term disability insurance -Flex Spending Account (Dependents and Health) -Free Cable Services (Pay for Equipment at discount) -Company Van (Home Garage Option) with gas card -$250 Boot Voucher once every 2 years -$100 Uniform Allowance once a year -22% Discount with Verizon -Universal Studios Theme Park Ticket Discounts -Paid Maternity and Paternity Leave -Paid Training -Tuition Reimbursements Available for a collage -You could get your bachelors for free -Free Flu Shots -Branding Merchandise -And More Stuff I can't think of at this time"

Cons

Metrics can be difficult and a pain sometimes. Crawlspaces, ladders, occasional irate customers, hot attics and outside weather (rain, cold, hot). But overall the good parts of the job are worth some bad days.
