Pros

Great benefits and nice people. Great mission to serve parents, families, and kids in this content-driven and tech-saturated world. The internship program has been improving in the last few years. Well-funded, big visions.

Cons

Needs improvement in diversity, especially in top leadership roles. Founder-driven, which can lead to a narrow vision. If you start as a coordinator or manager, it can be difficult to have opportunities to move ahead in your career. It seems they hire a lot of directors and senior roles and not enough coordinators and managers to actually carry out the visions. Then the teams are limited in bandwidth. For claiming they are about DEI, serving diverse audiences, and giving diverse people "a seat at the table", they need to do better at actually listening to diverse employees and implementing new ideas.

Pros

Great, committed group of people from diverse non-profit and for-profit backgrounds. The mix of perspectives - from media and tech, education, policy/advocacy vantage points - results in innovative approaches. Lots of cross-department collaboration. Fast-paced, entrepreneurial culture. Never boring as media and tech issues are constantly evolving. Still a relatively small organization (100+ people) but with huge reach and outsized impact. Strong commitment to serving diverse, low-income populations through K-12 schools program. Consistently exceed annual and three-year strategic goals. Care deeply about family and there's flexibility for work-life balance. Women well-represented in leadership positions.

Cons

Pace can be relentless at times. Senior management communication around new strategic initiatives sometimes slow or incomplete.

Pros

Great culture and benefits. The organization really values its employees. People are smart and hard working. The mission is also rewarding.

Cons

Management sometimes get stuck in analysis paralysis. There could be more sharing and communication between teams. The offices are a little drab.
